From what I read it just removed all the old bondo and rust. Not much metal was left after that.

Wouldn't the rework have to be done if that was the case? I guess it's a little confusing to me... if the car wasn't made from actual metal anymore I figure the rusted out and bondo'd areas would have to be reworked anyway.
