Someone ran sacked my 951.

Really shocked. I locked her up last night at around midnight, and getting ready to go to school this morning I come out with the door open. The handle is broken now.
I had two dollars on the shifter.. The fuchtard went ahead and went through my glove box. Which had my brothers ipod. dumped the contents of my backpack, and went through all the pockets.
I could careless about the money, the latch, but my ipod was my brothers. so basically sentimental.
I called the police non emergency number to see what my options were. They said that a officer is going to call within a hour. we'll see if that happens....

Sound like a crappy deal.

Some IDIOT broke into my mothers ancient GM sedan (1984 Commodore) and tried to steal it recently.
It took me hours and hours to change the locks and fix the trim around the steering wheel. (you can't get new parts anymore)

She cried because she bought that car new with my dad who died 12 years ago so it has real sentimental value.

Try not to let it get you down. It's not personal... Just some low life looking to make a few bucks.

Sorry to hear and this is probably a little late but NEVER/NEVER/NEVER leave a backpack in a car overnight. Unless you're using it to put out bait for a thief because you're hiding in the bushes with a 12 gauge.

Denis beat me to it. I know you don't want to hear this. Leaving anything in a vehicle is asking for it to be broken into. Exposed cash and a backpack will tempt a lot of miscreants.

I've wondered why they put locks on some glove boxes...once they are in, they are going to pry it open anyway and then you will get to buy parts to replace the lock...sounds like yours wasn't locked though, sorry to hear in any case

Tons of gals are furious that when they leave their purse in their car that it would be broken into. Duh.

This might make you feel a bit better, maybe not. I was in Lexington Kentucky on business and left one of my laptops in my rental car in the hotel parking lot. (nice upscale hotel actually) I came out in the morning and the car had been broken into, everything was gone except paperwork items.

I called the Lexington police who came right over, that was odd, but nice. He reviewed the security tapes for the lot and watched the guy breaking into the car. The guy came out from inside the hotel looked around at a few cars and broke into mine.

The guy had a limp in the tape and the manager of the hotel recognized him as one of his staff on the night shift. Long story short, they caught him, he had the stolen goods in his car the next evening. They arrested him and the rental car company was pursuing damages from him.

It was a small amount of justice.

Where in Phoenix was this?

I don't even keep my garage door open when I'm not in the garage.

Neither do I.... I should've just parked her in the garage like I normally do.. This is over by 7th street and northern.

This is my last year of HS so the most expensive thing I keep in my back pack is a graphing calculator. The idiot didn't even steal it!
I gave the police another call. They said they would send someone out to do a report.

And a thief looking in through the window is supposed to know this... how?

The point is, you are being given good advice (for the future)... don't leave anything in your car that someone could conceivably be able to sell for drug money.

Police are telling people in "theft prevention segments" on local TV news that you shouldn't even leave a CD jewel case on the seat... or the suction cup holder for your GPS unit on the glass... they say thieves assume you probably just put your unit in the glove box or console.

They're even saying that you should wipe the suction cup marks off the glass.

Anything they can see just invites a break in.

seems three rush cd's dont bring much drug money anymore.

when my car was broken into a few years ago the skipped the 3 cds on the front seat and the unlocked glove box and the center consol.

but they did take the radar detector but not the attached power cord the ipod but not the attached power cord and the open bag of clothes in the back seat...

Someone did a smash and grab from my wife's Nissan a while back.
They thought the diaper bag was a purse.....
I hope there was a nice stinky pile in there for them to put there hand into.
Keep everything out of site!

Had a friend in HS whose older brother was a clepto.

He would break into any car with velcro on the dash, a visor clip or suction cup mark on the glass.

9 out of 10 times he came up with a radar detector.

I leave nothing out, not even the wired headset for my iPhone.

And I also close my garage door unless I'm out there.

My wife's car was broken in to while parked in our driveway earlier this year. She had left her gym bag on the seat. Contents? Boxing gloves and a sweaty towel. That's all we lost. GPS was in the glove box and iPod was under the seat. All they took was the bag.

I'm with you Rick. If I'm going in the house for more than about 2 minutes the garage door is closed. I've got too much good stuff out there to let the world have access. If someone did ever come into my garage to rip me off they'd probably get distracted by all the things they'd have to choose from and still be there when I came back out.
