Is it worth joining rennlist??

I poke around there every once in a while, and I think I may have even joined at one time in the distant past. I see some of you here are double agents, and are active on both sites. Am I missing anyting? It appears as if there is more traffic here, and anything I could ever want to know, from the proper method of cratch slapping ( slap slap , like that ) to adding water methanol injection to my 930 could be answered by some of the big hitters that frequent this site .
Happy Friday!

The 944 section here is about how to keep your car alive and healthy.

The 944 section over there is about 951s, and mostly how to mod their suspension.

No. Why pay when you can get a better site free--Pelican. Never figured that out.

Rennlist much better for newer 993/996/997. Pelican much much better for early cars. I am a member of both but since I sold my 993 I dont go there much. Pelican suits my needs much better. That said, I dont have to pay fees at Rennlist. Im a lifetime member

The 911 Turbo forum used to be better, but activity has dropped off. It's much more active here at Pelican.

The Racing and DE at Rennlist continues to be active as well as OT at Rennlist.

You can read/post everything you want over there without becoming a member. You just won't have access to OT.

When my membership expires, I won't be renewing it.

I was a member over there for about the first year since buying a P-car and it seemed whenever a technical question couldn't be answered over there, the standard reply was "Go over to the Pelican website, they'll answer your question." So.... since I was buying my parts and pieces from PP anyways......

No OT? That is just wrong!!!

In my early 944 days I visited both sites but the folks on this side seem to be more "mature" (did I just say that?)

Upgraded my computer a few times and don't even have their site bookmarked anymore.

It happened when it became a free for all years ago. John D. got tired of all the nut jobs dropping in to cause problems and it was made a requirement to be a paying member. I think it helped, just as having PARF and OT forums.

I don't know if things have changed since they were taken over, but I was able to get a user name and have semi- full access the forum without paying. I guess the downside is that I can't access OT and it doesn't show that I am a paid member, both of which do not matter to me. The other downside is the "members" used to look down on the non-paying "users". Therefore, members were a little less likely to help a user than a paid member. Additionally, the 911 forum is not as good as the 911 forum here, but I would say the 993 forum is better on Rennlist. I don't own a 993 anymore, so I pretty much never go to Rennlist anymore.

If this is still the way things work there, then I say join as a user. Otherwise, I would say no, because I would not pay a membership fee.
