selling car with no title
always find this odd...
Here is one recent example: "1971 super Beetle, no title, you can get titles at Lost Car Titles, No Car Title at All? " Who would buy such a thing? |

Could be a Pink Sheet car.
Meaning the car never had a title. The vehicle registration card is used to transfer ownership. Hence the old term, "race you for pinks" I have a car like that.

It always worries me when they say "You can (you fill in the blank) for almost no cost" Many times its needed repair. If its that easy or inexpensive, why wouldn't the seller do it to make the car more sellable?

Every state is different. Buying a car without a title is either a non-issue or a deal-killer, depending on where you're trying to register it.

I have bought several cars without titles. It does happen, someone buys the car, and never pulls it into their own name, then the car sits, a couple of years go by, and contact with the original owner is lost, and there you have it. I have managed to legally obtain a title for every one I have ever done. Do your own research before you buy, I always have a local LEO. run the vin for me before I make the purchase to make sure that the car is not stolen. I have used the company GREENLIGHT TITLES with excellent results . Call them first before you make a purchase, and see exactly what hoops you will have to jump through to register it in your own state.

Cars sold prior to a certain year in Georgia didn't have titles. Just Bill of Sale and Registration. Could be a situation like that.
Also, I just recently sold one of our racecars. It wasn't street legal so we never bothered with a title when we bought it, and when we sold it, it went with no title. Bill of Sale only.

In AZ you can apply for a bonded title. Problem is they send notice to last address. The person whose name is on the title can then claim the vehicle.
