Anyone hear anything about the 787?

Some aviation reporters are saying another 4-6 month slide?

Stock is down 10%

The Seattle Times reported last week that deliveries wouldn't begin until 2012!

Interesting article about the 787 power system. What could go wrong?

I think they are using the "Engine Alliance" (GE+Pratt+Whitney) engines, so they should be fine.

This is the part I'd be worried about.

to ±270 VDC. The ±270 VDC system supports a handful of largerated adjustable speed motors required for the no-bleed architecture. These include cabin pressurization compressor motors, ram air fan motors, the nitrogen-generation-system compressor used for fuel-tank inerting, and large hydraulic pump motors.

Electronic controls on jet engines.

Next thing you know, there'll be some sort of electronic fuel injection on our Porsches that uses less fuel and gives more horsepower than carbs.

That'll be the day.
