What are the "child forums"

When doing a search, below the selected forums is a check box which indicates a search in the "child forums". What is the "child forums"

I would guss PARF but...don't really know.

When a thread become over run with immature posts, they are automatically moved to the child forums...
( It's part of the software )

It means sub-forums.

So if you have a 'Pelican Parts Classifieds' area, but underneath there you have 'Porsche Cars for Sale', 'BMW cars for Sale', and 'All other cars for Sale', those latter three are 'child forums' to the Pelican Parts Classifieds' area. Something like that.
