For Pelican People and all the rest of us

Dear Mr. Pelican, Pelican staff, and all the members of this board -

Thank You All !!!

The Pelican organization is comprised of the working stiffs and someone with vision who created the company and this site. Fortunately for the Rest of Us - that visionary Someone, and those he employs, serve us well - Thank You, again.

This site is a testament to American ingenuity - and - how an ad hoc forum can serve as a quasi mental health / counseling center for the bizarro world. Pelican provides a respite for the severely addicted and the mutual obsession we share. Pelican provides a much needed public service, as it prevents many of us from acting out the unorthodox and illegal behaviors that would surely arise - were it not for Pelican Parts, and the information found on this board, when withdrawls set in. Sometimes it's a superficial want. Other times it's a genuine need. Occasionally, it's a desperate consequence of laboring flat on your back, covered in oil and grease, and the planned repair refuses to go away quietly.

Pelican is kinda like AA - only the Steps discussed here generally follow the processes of DIS or RE assembly, and a minutia of adjustments. Participating in the Pelican board is similar to undergoing psychoanalysis in a group setting - people vent their problems, and others with prior experience share their personal sagas, in a spirit of helping and a healthy exchange of knowledge and experience. Porsche enthusiasts (Addicts) gather here to purge, or seek help, or watch the various train wrecks, that play out on a daily basis. One truth stands above the others - the Pelican site contains information that years of Training at Stuttgart does not, could not, equal. For this, I am ever grateful.

This site works on many levels. It's a parts outlet. It's a clearing house for technical information. It's a community forum where friendships and other bonds relating to the addiction we share are made.

The site serves as our Dealer who provides us our Porsche "Crack Pipe"... And, like dealers everywhere, once the dealer know we are hopelessly addicted, they charges us outrageous prices to obtain our next "FIX".

Only God knows how many spousal/girlfriend conflicts arose, what lies were told, what crimes were committed, what un-natural acts were performed, or how many souls were deeded over to Satan, to acquire the money needed for a new HP/torque gain, or that special Do-Dad we coveted for years. All I know is that all of these happened...

Unrepentant sinners make no excuses for their behaviors and neither shall we. We are blessed to own the finest machine that same God inspired man to create. So, in some strange, surreal, and self serving way, we are additionally performing a communion, a ritual of sorts, dedicated to the preservation of a Way of Life... our Life... the Porsche Way of Life.

So, Pelican, as Ron Johnson sang: We salute you !!!

Read all of his posts. Seems legit. Just someone who decided to pontificate on this one.

I will apologize for the Brian / Ron brain fart - once Bon Scott left the band I stopped counting the new names.

However, the rest of the post was a heartfelt thanks and a projection of my own experiences here. I am a newbie, but have found this site invaluable to keeping my addiction alive and well.

I take exception to un-natural acts ...trust me, all the acts were natural, painful sometimes, costly sometimes and in some states illegal...

I don't know Mike. I think the idea of sticking a small block Chev motor into a 911 is kind of unnatural.

Makes some of us feel a little uncomfortable, but it works for others.
