Time to Cash in on Some $1400 Gold

December is my busiest month for lending, felt my funds were getting low. A money infusion was a phone call away.

The rise in silver is partly because the price of gold has gone above many peoples' means, so silver is the new gold for hard asset investment.

I did a little better than that. Kitco would pay $24.35/gram. A buyer in southern Missouri I've used before discounts it a bit but it's worth something to have them pick the stuff up.
No check in the mail worries either. He didn't check my weight and I didn't count the money but the bills weighed 194 grams.

I would say hold the Gold...when it get to be $1600 an OZ you will have a serious case of the regrets. However and here it comes the qualifer....since you use Gold as part of your cash flow BY ALL MEANS CASH IT IN...yoU will make more money with the cash than by holding the Gold.

You should have seen me jumping up and down when I sold a batch at $600. Nothing wrong with taking a profit. But as you say, I'd like to keep ALL the gold that comes through but I have to churn some of it for cash flow. I'll have to post my Mr T starter set when I get back to work.

Hey, does the recent spike in silver prices make old coins worth more? I have a lot of BU Franklin half dollars. No one would ever melt down such a work of art. But are they worth any more because of what silver is doing?

I just stumbled upon an envelope of Japanese notes from occupied Philippines and Korea too. I need to go visit a paper money collector. Might be get a gun or two out of this stuff.

Rick, Kitco is paying .76 cents/gram for silver US coins, should be about 19 X face value. I don't know how close you can get to that locally; I'm giving 16.
No help on the paper notes though.

Thats one of the few things I enjoyed working in the Middle East. Over there if its less than 18k, they do not even consider it gold. Everything sold in that area is 18-22k...

So this means my silver dollar has gone up in price? I think I'll just keep it in my wallet as a good luck charm.

Yeah Silver coins have Bullion value and the collector value of the coin. So bottom of the line for a Morgan or Peace USD is about 28.00 today, then add in the numismatic value.

I tol U Boyz SILVER..back at $15 an OZ....it at the time was not trading at all time highs like AU was. It had to make the jump as an undervalued commodity. I was sayin that silver coinage like Morgans was the way to fly on this.

I loaded up years ago when I bought my real spoons, when it was $8 an OZ. I didn't do it for the value of the Silver but because I liked what I bought. And today I have a real nice hedge.

Back in merry ole England the Gentry would store their wealth in Silver which they made into Spoons and Hollow Ware. If times got rough they would melt it down into coinage.

Uhm Tom, that's an unused condom, you've just told so many people it's a silver dollar you've started to believe it yourself
