Looking for foam fitting packing for pistol....

I remember a foam packing that allowed for plucking out of portions both sideways and in depth to allow for a silhouette, snug and for a safe fit of a pistol for legal transportation.

What is it called, any suggestions?

Foam.......

Don't know about that, but you can wet open cell foam and freeze it. While frozen, use a razor knife to cut out the shape you want. Let it thaw out and dry and you have a custom fit for your pistol! Good luck with your project!

You could always go the "James Bond" route with a nice aluminim Haliburton foam-insert case:

Great for making those around you think that you are carrying nuclear missile guidance components or other evil contraband.

I've got a Pelican 1500 case and have thrown out the rubber. It seems each week there is something different to go to the range. At the moment it's kind of a more and more and more situation. Which I enjoy.

Shameless Plug

I actually work for Pelican the case (and light) company and we are about to launch our a version of our model 1170 case with a pick and pluck interior configured to hold most of the more popular pistols. It should be available early in January.
Cheers,
Kevin

I have a 1200, 1400 and 1600 Pelican case as well as a Halliburton clone similar to the one pictured above that need foam.

Would you be a source? I can trade Carrera side graphics and cash....
