what a day!! Hog round up!

wow. i am tired. we had to get some free ranging hogs together and collect them all up in a trailer. they didnt want to go.

i got a 100 lbs sow for myself. this time it was cool! we had a professional operation show up to do the wet work. hair/bristle removal and all!

nice to have a reminder where meat comes from. i have all the pork i need for the year. unless i arrow a wild one, which aint likely.

pig goes for a bath in 140 degree water. and gets tossed into the "magic fingers". they rotated relatively slow, and simply yank the hair off. like the duck de-feathering machines. the pig stays in the bath until the butcher can yank off hair by hand.

here it is getting massaged.

Nice...nothing like knowing where your food is coming from.
We have fresh eggs every day from our hens...make me feel good to know my girls are not eating "processed" eggs...ate a wonderful venison stew last week from deer harvested from our farm....garden every year....wish I had more room...I would spend less at the store.
