Tires for my Lotus
I am having trouble finding a performance tire for my Lotus Elan.
The specs call for a 175/70-13 and the only tire I have found so far is the General Altimax RT. Anyone have any experience with these tires? Any other recommendations for this size tire? ![]() ![]() Last edited by Henry Schmidt; 12-10-2010 at 07:18 AM.. |

Henry,
Post or search on USA7s(friendly enthusiasts) USA7s - Powered by vBulletin and you will get a few options. Ben at Caterham USA Caterham Cars has these: https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=105&products_id=124&osCsid=efb6690d008d73af550d7da8566275d9 They do have or had various sizes. Very expensive but the grip is amazing.... For my sins, I love Elans. Ed |

what about going up to 14" panasports with 185 60 14? There should be more choices in that size.

Henry, the Altimax RTs are actually a good all-around tire, but not great performance tires and they get noisey with tread wear.
I can get Cooper, Kelly, Uniroyal, Kumho, and a few others in that size. Consider the Kumho Solus KR21, they're very good all-around tires They are being replaced (slowly) with the KR22 Eco Solus which is a low-rolling-resistance tire with phenomonal treadwear (740!!) and a 100K mile warranty... but not really 'Lotus-like' |
