Any landing you can crawl away from

What's the old saying???..... "Out of Airspeed, Altitude and Ideas".....all at the same time!!! "OUCH!!"

Check out the wrinkle in the fuselage as the wing hits the ground.

LOL!

Decades ago, local marine cop checking my boat out at a launch line, slowing things up...

cop: Do you have a coast guard approved gas can?

Me: Nope.

(cop scribbles on his clipboard)

cop: How about an approved spark arrestor?

Me: Nope.

(more scribbling)

Cop looks at boat again:

"Why, you don't have a motor!"

Me: Exactly.

Was thinking that was the case. Far too many pilots die trying to make it back when they just do not have the altitude to do it.

Glad he was alive but this was an accident that should not have happened...

I was on the bumpiest flight of my life yesterday leaving DIA. It was so God awful. I hate flying with such a passion. The only thing worse than dealing with airports is being a head of cattle in that tube.

years back i remember listenng to an old pilot named larry gehrline.

he had just come back from ww2, and purchased the latest glider. a sleek polish thing. light and fast, but with a huge glass bird cage canopy that weighed as much as the rest of the craft put together. one sunday morning he was showing off in front of some friends, and his wife. did a loop at an unsafe altitude. and ending up stalling and doing an inverted bellyflop on the grass.
he spoke of hanging upside down in the grass, and looking at the crowd, not moving. they weren't coming to help because they all assumed he was dead. he yelled for a moment and they rushed over.
there was no way to get him out with the plane upside down as it was. so everyone gathered round, and lifted it up on their shoulders to move. first the canopy gave way. smashing on the ground in 1000 pieces. then his seat came loose.
he came through the crash without a scratch. but ended up in the hospital with severe lacerations anyway.
