Do people actually READ the forum rules?!!

Man, lately it seems like we have more and more new guys that don't read the forum rules/guidelines for posting.

There are several threads in the for sale section asking questions. No replys are allowed, obviously so they are never going to get an answer.

Then we get the folks selling stuff without listing prices or posting pics.

I was sending PMs to posters trying to steer them in the right direction but I finally just stopped. I really shouldn't even concern myself with this.

This rant does not include the spammers that have inundated the forum lately.

Ok, back to regular programming.

I am always looking for another Porsche so check the for sale and parts all the time. If they don't have a location and a price I guess they really don't want to sell it. Or, if no price they know it is too high and are embarrassed.

If you use some common sense then you can't go wrong.

And some people are just plain rude, crude or stupid... but in their defense there has never been a book published about on line etiquette that I know of.

Maybe that's an idea for a new book...

Etiquette for online dating, the internet and mobile coms for newbs!

Rules? They're like instructions, right? Only to be read when everything has fubared.

Okay, I will jump in here. I am a long time observer, low post count newbie. I came here and for a long time just watched. A person can learn a lot from simply observing and seeing how things are done.
That said,I have yet to introduce myself formally, but I have asked questions in the engine rebuilding section that were answered by long time posters and I have followed good sense and common etiquette and thanked them.
The rules are clear but some people choose to ignore them.
Maybe there should be a period that one can register, observe, but not post?
Hard to do because if some body has that "102 litre plastic composite only came in the targa florio 911rsr for the first half of the race then was switched back to..."
gas tank then the opportunity for the community to be aware of its existence is lost, for a period of time at least.
I have also seen people come on here and with all good intention post a question and be blasted for not using the search, or be told giyf,or something else.
I think the way things are is a good way
It is up to the individual to act(post) in a responsible manner
If not, well it's too bad your poor skills cost you a chance to sell that unobtainium tank.

If this is all you have to be concerned about consider yourself lucky! I don't even care if a thread should be in PARF! Maybe the holidays are just making you sensitive... LOL!

Yeah, I know. Wife's happy, kids are happy, dog appears to be happy so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Merry Christmas to you and the family, Bill!

So, Lets everybody read the rules together. We will go around the room and everybody reads 1 rule out loud so everyone can hear.

I'll start........

1. No flaming: debates are ok, but responding to threads just to incite or start an argument or conflict is not permitted. Personal attacks, if hostile in nature, are not allowed.

I have a couple for sale, I'll post pictures and details in this thread in as few minutes so you won't have to bother going to that other forum

2. No pointless threads or excessive posting allowed: Yes, this is an off topic forum, but let's keep the subject matter of an intelligent nature. If you're bored, play a game on your playstation or better yet, wash your car! Posting responses to increase your 'number of posts' is also not allowed.

Am I breaking 2. by posting 2. again?

Simplified rules:

Don't be an idiot.
