Yes he got ot of the car with his piece already out. IMO - He was planning to shoot the man.

slakjaw 12-21-2010 09:57 AM

And a bad shot.

The article says how the local PD had encounters with this guy and other transients in the past. Seeing a disposition towards this person, it can almost be construed as premeditated, especially given the fact the officer came out gun drawn.

I believe the term here is "street judge".

If this officer had knowledge of the prior encounters then why did he simply not follow and observe the victim while requesting back up?

Why not turn the corner and stop the cruiser in front of the victim so he can confront him with the cruiser between them?

If he had prior knowledge of this specific individuals prior aggressive posture to police then why on earth would he put himself in a compromised situation when he had alternatives.

The victim was walking down the street. He was not engaged in any aggressive or confrontational action with anybody.

There was no immediate perceivable threat to the public.

The guy was obviously the local harmless homeless drunk. Which im sure they have dealt with way more than they are admiting. Love how they say, they kept giving him citations. I'm sure he ran right out and paid all of them...

Porsche-poor 12-21-2010 10:49 AM

Yep I agree with all of you. The guy was a bad apple and a bad apple with a knife, but that does not mean the cop should have exited the car gun already out. I know of one state trooper who went up the scale on force but had to shoot the guy in the end and did so as a last resort this guy was looking for a reason to shoot............

Silverwhaletale, I hope you are joking. Bit of gallows humor to say the least, and not really that funny to me.

After shooting, the lady can be heard asking "What did you do that for? He didn't do anything" - it's a little garbled, but you can make it out pretty easily.

Yup, "Ma'am, he had a knife and refused to drop it." Is much more clear.

Murder, no ifs ands or buts.

If that cop does not go to prison, I will never enter the State of Washington again for the rest of my life.

Hopped out, gun drawn; went from in the car to the man dead on the sidewalk in like 10 seconds. His first instinct was to lie about what happened. I am fairly certain there will be some security cameras, suppose the tape from those must have gotten "lost."

It appears Seattle has some major problems.

Well certainly one problem with this specific LEO. If the rap sheet is correct, other officers have shown restraint more than once. This shooter however needs to stand trial.

That other video compilation seems to show the officers in that precinct had a significant familiarity with the victim.

I wonder if the female officer he went off on is the same one that you see in the first part of the video. Young, attractive.

I also wonder what the relationship (actual or desired) between her and the shooter is?

Might splain a lot.

Yup.

The type of "leader" which floats to the surface in Seattle, usually does so via political correctness and/or superior liberal righteousness, rather than having any skill at leadership and/or organization. Seattle's mayors generally have a glib attitude about the well being of the city. They seem really like the idea of their title and power for themselves.

Seattle is just another big city full of self-serving politicians. -sad, really. :-/

I do feel for the good cops in Seattle, who have to navigate this cluster...

Wow, a murderer walking around with legal gun, getting pay for his living from people, and can shoot anyone he wants.

Is there an echo in here? :)

Yeah--real hardened criminal there---open containers and jay-walking in his past.

cop is worng and should be jailed--unfortunately, probably won't be--possibly "suspended" FOP will come out in support of him.

pathetic

That's why I hate it when I make the last post on a page and it the thread rolls into a new page.

But my post was better, I had pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was.SmileWavy

Better standards in firing needed as well. Way too many cops out there who shouldn't be cops, who lateral from PD to PD because they are allowed to resign quietly as opposed to being fired for their offenses.

widebody911 12-22-2010 11:07 AM

To paraphrase HHGTTG, "Anyone who wants to be a cop should be automatically disqualified."

Hard-Deck 12-22-2010 03:00 PM

It's the precinct on Virginia and 800 block that's doing most of the shenanagins, not the entire Seattle PD. That one precinct is a bad apple
