Foot Odor

This pains me to no end to say this, my beautiful 21 yo daughter has foot odor. She is home from college and after 4 days the odor is permeating the back of the house. Anyone have any experience in knocking this out?
signed,

My guess is that she's wearing shoes but not socks. I can't do that unless the shoes are open like sandals or flip flops.

Myth Busters confirms that washing feet in vodka is an effective means of controlling foot odor. Wash thoroughly and pat dry with a clean soft cloth.

I would get rid of/replace any old sneakers or shoes with absorbant soles.

When I worked as a Ski Instructor I used to use underarm deodorant on the soles of my feet. Dry feet are warm feet and being in ski boots all day they will get pretty rank if moisture is not controlled.

Yup, nothing will turn sneakers rank faster than no socks.

+1 on Odor Eaters, and she must wear socks and at least use Gold Bond powder in her shoes. Eventually the odor gets into ,and out of the shoes.

Yup. She wearing those damn Sperrys, or Crocs? Some climbing shoes get downright rank, those people start wearing socks, and it helps greatly.

And 21yr old daughter you say? This thread is worthless without pictures!

Tell her to soak her feet in strong tea. The tannic acid will close the pores, tend to keep feet drier. Baking soda in shoes can help with stench, as above, anti-perspirant too.

My son lives with four girls and another guy in his dorm apt in college. The one who's feet stinks is a girl who wears nothing but UGGS. They gave her a group gift for her birthday; a new pair of UGGS and a can of Tinactin.

I gave the Nom de guerre.... "Maloped" to a roomie I had years ago..

And used to play "Stink Foot" by Zappa if he wore is shoes or sneakers in our house..

We made him leave his shoes outside because the malodorous scent could not be allowed within the domicile...

If we could have cut his feet off and left them outside it would have made life within those walls more pleasant..

His stinky feet would waft up at you while dining...

Never knew if he found a cure for maloped...

signed,
malodorous.
I had foot odor and athletes foot. I was working a job site in Rhode Island and was freezing most of the time. At some point I started wearing wool rag socks. Within a few weeks no more odor and athletics foot gone. Dry feet are happy feet.

Cotton is terrible for feet.

Interesting. Last winter when the flu was a big deal, my company was giving away little spray bottles of antibacterial (alcohol) to use on your hands. I was at work one day and noticed that one of my pits had started to smell. I guess I'd not been liberal enough with the Right Guard the night before. I decided, "what the hell" and sprayed a little spritz of the alcohol on my pit. The smell went away and didn't come back. I can see that working. Vodka, everclear/grain alcohol, rubbing alcohol, etc... I assume they'd all probably do it. Shoot, you could probably put a couple of drops of mint oil or something in them and get a minty fresh scent at the same time.
