The electronic soundtrack is also really cool.

I got the soundtrack and must concur, very cool. A good mix of orchestra & electronic. Sadly, the songs are less than 3min long.

I don't go to the theatre to see movies very often in the last several years. This one I wanted to see, although I did not have high expectations. I saw it with my buddy and his brother, we saw the original together when TRON was first released. Saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great. The sound was awesome, the seats were shaking a lot of the time.

As I was watching the movie I chuckled to myself in the affirmation that I am a geek. It was a lot of fun. To really get a lot of it, you had to see the first one.

There were quite a few references to the old movie all through the new one.

Kinda funny, but a large number of today's audience wasn't even alive in 1982!

I need to see it again.

Saw it last night in 3D (first 3D I've seen). I've been anticipating its release for a long time and still I liked it just fine for what it was, but if I were a real critic I'd have hated it, its content was hollow.
Daft Punk has really turned it on again with the soundtrack, here are some tunes....
Derezzed, the title track... YouTube - Daft Punk - Derezzed (Tron Legacy Soundtrack - NTEIBINT Remix)

Here's another take on a really heavy track... YouTube - Daft Punk - Tron Legacy Theme (Reworked by Cryda Luv) [HIGH QUALITY]

I disagree. It thought it was captivating.

Did you find it boring?
Did you you watch the first movie?

Just curious.

Oh I definitely thought it was captivating. It was visual-auditory awesomeness. It was not boring at all. I just tend to look at movies from two perspectives, one is from my personal movie-lover's perspective and what kind of movies I like and what elements I'd give up in a movie in order to have extra doses of some other elements. Then the other perspective is that of the jaded movie critic. Critics chide this movie for its lack of substance.
Alas, I am not a movie critic, and when Tron strode across the playing field in slow motion with the orange fireworks erupting in the background, well, it was just plain wicked.

Saw it tonight in 3D and loved it! I swear the bass was set so loud that it was blowing my hair around during some of the sequences. Great effects, lots of motorcycle content and Olivia Wilde in a tight glowing suit. Awesome.

My son dragged me.

I was bored. Reminded me of the first Tron. Visuals cool, story lame.

I mean, didn't you know everything that was going to happen, without seeing past the trailer? Dad would disappear into the grid, kid would grow up and enter the grid, they would meet, either they'd both return or dad would nobly sacrifice himself as kid's eyes tear up. There would be one or more good natives and one or more bad natives. A bad native would see the light. The baddest native would be the nemesis. Yawn.

And Olivia Wilde is a beautiful woman, but of a slim body type that wouldn't knock your eyes out through a bodysuit, and given the rating you knew she was unlikely to take off the suit, so where was the suspense? What, wondering if they'd make it to the portal?

At best, a movie to see stoned. Wait, that didn't help the first Tron either.

Glad I didn't pay for 3D.

Just saw it tonight in IMAX 3D. My nephews (who obviously weren't alive in 1982) took me. Very cool visuals. Certainly there are inconsistencies, and it's not the most suspenseful of movies, but it was a lot of fun, nonetheless.

Two very pretty ladies. How can you guys give such enthusiastic two thumbs up for Olivia Wilde, yet dismiss Natalie Portman so easily? They look somewhat similar.

Oh, and viva Ducati! (How come no one mentioned that part of the story?!)

They're all too busy casting aspersions...

This was a DISNEY movie, for crying out loud. Anybody going in expecting to see a Best Film nominee doesn't have their head screwed on straight.

My father and I really enjoyed it (we saw the original together in the theater back when I was a tyke) and we're going back for another viewing, in 3D this time. :D

Noah930 01-01-2011 07:36 AM

I liked the 3D aspect. It wasn't of the jump-out-of-your-seats variety with rockets and laserbeams flying into your face, but rather an attempt to add depth to the screen. A neat shift from the "regular world," compared to when he got sucked into the computer world.

I guess it all depends what knocks your socks off. For me, slim and perky is where it's at!

For others like me, do a Google image search (safe search off) for "Olivia Wilde Alpha Dog" to get a peek at what's under that glowing bodysuit. Yum, yum, give me some! :p

I'm taking my BIL to see it this week.

I may go to see it tomorrow if the snow storms let up. I mean we got like 1.5" of snow and we're paralyzed here (j/k). I worked on it for the last 18 months, and missed the cast and crew screening.

trekkor 01-02-2011 07:11 PM

I was looking for a name in the credits I could recognize.

What was your job?

How 'bout a set of those costumes, now? ;)

JavaBrewer 01-02-2011 07:33 PM

Have not seen the original or this latest remake. What is the story about?

trekkor 01-02-2011 07:39 PM

Computer stuff...

:D
