I just finished watching the original so i can be up to speed for the new one.. :)

The set-up is a rip-off of Spiderman as are more than a few plot lines..
The graphics (in 3D) are far ahead of the original - but not nearly as creative.. The whole world they depict is more like outer-space than some universe inside of a computer. The middle three-fifths of the film are an absolute bore. The action leading to the end was pretty good - but also dependent on Star Wars imagery and plot lines. The target audience will enjoy it. |
The original Tron was a big hit in my house as a kid. My dad was a salesman for IBM at the time and there was finally some sort of pop-culture reference for his profession.

I liked it.

I thought the new one was a lot of fun. The CG could have been better in a few spots (young Jeff Bridges, for example) but overall I think it was well done.
Anyone that holds the original in reverence needs to pull their head out of their as$. |
I liked it, plus one of my favorite groups did the soundtrack to it. (Daft Punk). In the club scene, that's actually Daft Punk that are spinning
|
I didn't like the first one. I think I'll skip the sequel.
|
Very well done film. I don't know how many people realized that the game grid he goes to is not the same one from the first film. Nor are Tron and Clu the same programs.
