Not fancy but these are the trains I got when I was a kid back in the 60's! I set them up and run them a few times every Christmas. Have original "patina".

The locomotive and crane are metal. Heavy suckers.

Jeff, ok whats the info on the gondola in the background?? I want one!!!

This was my dad's Lionel set from the late '40's. One of my most prized possessions. I've got more of it, but not enough room around our tree!

Gondola

Hi Ratlesnak,

It's an old Department 56. I have to say the coolest thing (IMHO) is his bumper car set we found at Ace Hardware a number of years ago, the cars, really move around!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1293328636.jpg

Nice - is that American Flyer / "S" Gauge? That is what I have. I don't see a lot of it. It seems like Lionel was the market-share leader from this era.

American Flyer

HI Matthew,

Yes, it's American Flyer, my dad has an unbelievable collection.
He knows way more about it than I do, but yes Lionel was more popular, I particularly like the fact that the AF is only two rails. The old adage "they don't make them like they used to" sure applies, the old trains are so cool with how they can be taken apart and repaired
My dad's collection began with the original train that he had when he was little. (he still has the store receipt).http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1293379304.jpg

Very nice thanks for sharing that. LGB is dangerous though, I had a set around the tree and that summer it and 500ft of track ended up outside. LOL DON"T BY THE CATOLOGUE LOL Happy Holidays and thanks for putting a smile on my face.

Guys
Very nice sets!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that's got a train set out this year.
Here's a link to a video I made. It's a 'ride along' and not very professional to say the least.
I never would have guessed I'd have the technology to 1) Make a video of riding on my toy train set, and 2) Sharing it here.

Hope you have a Happy New Year!
