$6,800 speaker cable reviews- good laugh

I was reading the NYTimes this weekend and came across this article about not wasting money on MonsterCables and going directly to Monoprice as others have mentioned within this board. In the comments section, someone mentioned reading the reviews for the 8ft AudioQuest K2 stereo cables which are being discounted to $6,800. If you are bored and want a good laugh, go read the reviews here.

There are some really good ones including:
This review is from: AudioQuest K2 terminated speaker cable - UST plugs 8' (2.44m) pair (Electronics)
Customers who bought this item also bought....

- the Brooklyn bridge

- swampland in Florida

- the Empire State Building

Enjoy!

now boys....
it is proven that you can make better sound come out of your speakers if you use more efficent conductors, there is no need to argue this. now to charge that much for copper i will need to see and hear why, and then go home and try to reproduce it on the cheep.

With a little searching, I found out what PSS Silver is.

Quote:
Solid Perfect-Surface Silver
And the need for it.

Quote:
PSS CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-SurfaceSilver (PSS) minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries which exist within any metal conductor, eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to all other conducting materials.

Okay, who's going to post the thread: Finance $6,800 speaker cables. Bad idea?

It is all relative. Does a set of $$$ racing tires make a huuuggge difference with a Lada? Does Château Margaux show its best if you drink it from a plastic cup with a straw?

Put those $6800 cables in a system that is capable of allowing you to discern the difference & I bet that the majority of you would walk away with a different opinion. So don't try this at home with your Sansewage receiver & your Bose 901s.

Of course, Audioquest may not be the best example since they are known primarily for their healthy dealer margin & their hot 'fluff-at-the-door' at trade shows. One time in the 80s, I remember an AQ girl walking down the hall of the Sahara in Vegas during setup wearing a skin-tight leopard print body suit & the whole hall stopped & stared . . .

Cables are a menage of some of real science & engineering versus a major dose of fairy dust. Caveat emptor.
