Tire leak
I have a tire that loses 2 psi per week. How do I find the leak? It is not the valve stem, new. Soapy water in the bead shows nothing. It started after the tire had been on about 2 years.
I was thinking of filling it with R134 and using an electronic leak detector but it is hard to get fittings that will allow that.

Might be the wheel. You can always put a tube in it.

I was thinking of putting it in a kids plastic pool when it gets above freezing but would that show up that size leak?

Yep...tire shop I go to has a tank that has a "hold down" device...keeps all submerged. They test every new mount they do, hand torque the wheels on. That's why I use them.

Spray soapy water on it. The leak will blow a bubble you can easily see. If the leak is in the tread part, and if you were as reckless as me, then you might just ream the hole and put one of those fiber/glue plugs in it.

Bathtub with dishwashing detergent. Submerge the tire or splash soapy water all over it. Look for bubbles.

Did you check around the base of the valve stem and the valve core? (the valve core can be tightened with a valve core tool)
To pwd72s, you must not be going to Les schwabs.

I try to avoid schwabs, I've had around 14 flats since we move to the our current house. I've become an expert plugger. We have a gravel parking area and drive. The last owner just dumped his garbage everywhere. I've been picking up nails, screws, glass old car parts, plastic stuff, wires you name it, it's buried out here. Even found Jimmy Hoffa under a buried bath tub.

Have you got a wheelbarrow? Fill it with water, dunk the wheel.

RETIRED

Just fixed the inflatable tire on my two wheeled trolley. It was leaking out the bead.
Deflated it, cleaned the lip of the rim, soaped it and re inflated. No leaky.
