So, what was the highlight of 2010 for you?
For me, it was the Giants finally winning the World Series.
|
At the risk of sending this to PARF...the results of the 2010 Congressional election and the message delivered.

First grandchild.
|

Debt free, except for my mortgage, which is 25% LTV.

Colonoscopy
|
Walked into a telephone pole while ogling some young girls. Was out for about 5 minutes and had the best dreams ever.
|
The birth of my only son in March, Wife hit 160% of her sales quota in a single qtr (Q4), I hit critical Biz Dev goals setting up 2011 to be huge for family biz, Giants win WS, didn't lose any close family members!
Not a bad year 2010, frustrating at times - immensely rewarding too, discovered being a parent again @ 40 is much, much more physically demanding/harder then in my 20s... |
Highlight...? HAHAHAHAHA
I started going to church back in February. Volunteered for service there in August and have been working the light show for the worship bands since then. I was baptized in September and then got married in November to the most amazing woman I have ever known. Became a step-father to her two kids (19 yr-old male, who attends college, and an 11 yr-old daughter). All this, in addition to getting back in touch with most of my family, whom I have been estranged from since 2000 and even re-connecting with my most awesome daughter, who earned her Masters Degree in Anthroplogy from the Univ. of Chicago, back in August. All in all, 2010 has been prolly the BEST year of my life!!! SmileWavy Randy |

THIS! is great news! |
Some educational stress regarding two of my children is greatly reduced as they are doing much better. Step dad in law beat serious odds and is alive. No one in the family has poor health. Career is doing very well. Economically we weathered the recession and even increased income in 2010. All in all, a fantastic year!
I feel very fortunate. Larry |
Bought a new house (Aug) and got a new and better job.... two days ago :D
|
I'm very likely to reach my **75th ** birthday on the fourteenth of this month. Family is in good, but aging, health!
Best, Tom |
Kept our jobs, no one that I personally know died. An uneventful, but good year.
|
I'm mostly done with my prepharm requirements, got a real job, took up rock climbing and have made some awesome new friends, got my SCUBA certification, nearly died, turned my 944 into a "well prepared 944" and became a better autocrosser. Bought a track car project....
I've not had much free time this year, but its been one helluva year.. :D |
Congrats on the millstone mossguy.
2010 was tough, my house burned in Feb, it was rebuilt and we moved in during Oct. My sister in law was diagnosed with breast ca and was treated successfully. My brother, 51 recently had a pretty severe heart attack but the prognosis is good. All in all it was a year of setbacks and then triumphs, I have much to be thankful for. Things in general are pretty good given the challenges my family has faced this year. Now if I can get the P cars rear wheel bearings finished I am looking forward to a drive to celebrate the passing of 2010, good riddance. |
I hope you meant "milestone"! :D
Best, Tom |
Randy, you're a good dude!

Built the startup to the point of getting investors. Saw our company perform astoundingly well: finished the year with an accumulated 100,000,000 views (on Youtube alone) of our flagship show, Fastlane Daily.

And thanks for the books! As I alluded to in the "Gift Exchange" thread, "Generation Kill" has been placed at the top of my personal 'required reading' list. It's queued to go as soon as I finish my current read, "It Came From Within" by Andy Stanley. Semper fi! Randy |
No highs or lows. It was all good.
|
I volunteer for the County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team. Started keeping track in Sept. Since then, we have located 5 alive and 2 dead (drowning). Been called out twice this week, busy times here in the mountains..........
|
I came second in a shooting competition called Milirary Rapid fire. Stuff like 5 shots while a 25 yard target turns towards you for 6 seconds. It was only second, but the last time I actually won something was a baby contest back in 1959.

Still being employed, still being married, still having all family members and myself here healthy and on the proper side of the grass. I'm fine with that and if it sounds like having low standards or whatever keep in mind its been several years since I've been able to say that.
2010 wasn't too bad overall but I'm hoping 2011 is better and I stay on an upward trend. Too many others have been going backwards y-o-y over the last few. |
Got a Job, moved to Japan and my son is now bilingual.
My Japanese still sucks though.. maybe this year I will improve (New Years resolution along with no more spousal arguments). |
I made it to the 2011 edition of Marquis Who´s Who. I can´t imagine on what grounds. Not the highlight of 2010 in any way, but still kind of funny.
|
I didn't die, nor did I kill anybody, and it was close several times (both ways)
|
In chronological order thru out the year:
Brother was reported clean of cancer after two years, a major milestone with non-smokers lung cancer. Daughter graduated from college. I finally got my car running the way I think it should and it really is a joy to drive. [But then the diaphragm broke so I'm back to square one with it not running.] Celebrated 30 years of marriage to the love of my life. She's put up with a lot over that time. Got to help my son and his girlfriend move into their first house. [This may not be a biggie to most, but my dad never got to see either my son or my first house, so it meant a lot to me.] I'm still employed. [Back in '92 I was out of work for 18 months.] 2011 is going to be a good year as I should have the car running again soon and the house will be paid for come March. |
Best for me was winning "Reserve award", (2nd place) at the Road America/Kohler/Ford concourse at Elkhart Lake this past July with a daily driven BMW. Very beautiful trophy. At least I lost to a restored 1973 Porsche 911.
|
Retired! Now 2011 will be the year to figure out what to do with the rest of my life....
|
high: quadrupled my income
low: apprehension about moving from the easiest "big" city in the world to live in (Indy) to So-Cal (in two weeks) |
