This particular car gave up its drivetrain and other parts for a 195/212 Vignale Coupe serial number 0117S that originally ran in the 1951 Mille Miglia.

Ed Niles owned this car in the late eighties and sold the drivetrain in 1990.

But you're right, many 2+2s were gutted and reborn into racing replicas, including GTOs. There was a time that cars like this were just cheap, relatively undesireable used cars.

I suppose that is a worthy cause, 250GTE Barn Find - FerrariChat.com.

This used to be a 330 GTC.

You guys who think this thing could be save are not taking a look at the bodywork... looks like it was left out in the worlds worst hail storm.

I saw a nice front engine V12 Ferrari in a used car lot about 20 years ago for $10K... underside was covered with oil... even I am not that crazy.

willtel 01-04-2011 04:19 PM

Well you could always retain the American V8 and go in another direction with it...

I'm trying to understand what happened to the front end...

How could so much be wrong with this car. What a nightmare! :(

12 hours left, currently at $10.2K. I found another, nicely restored one that recently sold for $85K. I don't think this one is salvagable for any kind of reasonable cost.

Check out the $85K one:

Now that is beautiful... I've always loved the interiors of old Italian sports cars.

Hmm. If you look at the dashboards of the ebay car and the restored car, they are different. The key on ebay is right of the steering wheel, and the key on the restored one is to the left. What's up with that?

I`d buy for cheap, stick an american V8 in there and make it a rat rod...oh wait, that is what the owner did.
