Porsche-O-Phile 01-04-2011 09:03 AM

Neat. I'll probably put a bid or two on it just for yuks.

A930Rocket 01-04-2011 09:13 AM

Might be best if this one was left in the barn...

Whoever let that car get like that should be shot.

If anyone needs me I will be in the bathroom gouging my eyes out.

What about the doofus that replaced the drivetrain?

willtel 01-04-2011 09:20 AM

What a mess. Those are jaw dropping cars in good condition, I can't imagine the time and money it would take to make that one whole again.

"Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty"

Glad I saw that before I entered my bid.

asphaltgambler 01-04-2011 10:41 AM

You know with something as bad as that....it takes more than just poor judgement and bad taste............it also takes time and money!!

Price seems low considering what it is.

Imagine someone who bought it and did not live near a Ferrari dealer back in the 60's. Say thousands of miles away. Repeated engine failures, car leaves you one too many times, and you dump it at the local "filling station". Storage fees accumulate, and a local kid/grease monkey buys it and "fixes" it. I could see how this could happen - in the wrong hands the cars were notoriously unreliable, but I still want to cry.

Not to mention that a lot of these cars gave up their Colombo V12s to keep more desirable models on the road and track during the 70's and 80's. A good number of GTEs were also cut up to create replicas of 250 GTOs and other performance models.

The baby Jesus is weeping....

McLovin 01-04-2011 02:07 PM

How many bars of modeling clay were harmed in the production of that vehicle?

Fortunately it's just a 2+2 GTE, it's not like it's a GTO or anything. Lots of the 2+2 v12s have met unfortunate demises.

Not sure what the buyer of this beast would really do with it, though, even if bought for $2,000.

Those Borrani wheels are worth $5,000, even in that condition. How much is an OEM Porsche hood badge again?

Embraer 01-04-2011 02:24 PM

back in '96, there was a 250GTE for sale...the car's body and interior were perfect. the only caveat was that it had a Chevy 350/TH300 conversion done to it. I had that ad posted on my bedroom wall for about 4 years. I believe they wanted 13K for the car.

it was a proper Ferrari, sans the engine and tranny issue. I'd gladly pay 13K for the car that used to adorn my bedroom wall. too bad this ebay car is so snaggly.

porsche4life 01-04-2011 02:29 PM

Someone put that poor car out of its misery....

Unfortunately, they aren't Borranis. The rears appear to be Kelsey-Hayes. The fronts I'm not sure.

THere's either a 250 or 330 with a SBC that keeps cycling on ebay. Not a bad looking car, but for me there's more attraction to the sounds of the v12 than the overall look of the car.

If I needed italian v12 thrills, I'd probably go for a Ferrari 365/400 or a Lambo Espada. The idea of an engine rebuild would be terrifying though
