DARISC 01-04-2011 09:37 PM

Florida.

turn9 01-04-2011 10:30 PM

Name the capital of the 57th state?

Porsche-O-Phile 01-04-2011 11:45 PM

Austin?

I believe this might be a reference to a little-known provision of the Texas state Constitution that allows it to divide itself into up to seven independent states at any time (forget where I remember reading about that offhand...)

hardflex 01-05-2011 04:35 AM

It has more trees and less timber
More lakes and less water
You can see farther and see less

What State were they speaking of?

Put me down for Alaska for having the most coastline.

Bobbi66 01-05-2011 07:46 AM

Hands down Alaska...SmileWavy

drcoastline 01-05-2011 08:47 AM

The coastline of the rest of the contry combined may not equal the coastline of Alaska.

hardflex 01-05-2011 09:07 AM

They were talking about Texas . I love that quote !

just found the whole quote it's even better

The late Senator Ben (Pitchfork) Tillman of South Carolina is credited with having said:
“Texas has more trees and less timber; more rivers and less water; more resources and less cash; more itinerant preachers and less religion; more cows and less milk, and you can see farther and see less than any d----- country in the world.”

RWebb 01-05-2011 01:15 PM

How many states have a coastline?

careful now...

I know in some parts of Texas you can watch your dog run away for three days .....

I believe Washington does, because if you have beach property, you own the beach, not the state to the high tide line..

If you are talking about shoreline, not just oceanic.... That would be Oklahoma! SmileWavy

South Dak.. Do yourself a favor and keep driving right on past...same with Wall Drug...and a zillion other tourist traps in or near the Black Hills. There is a reason the speed limit is 75MPH but people drive 80-90. Generally nice people though.

LOL I was gonna correct you with "grad" instead of "city" but remembered that wouldn't be proper so I didn't ;)

I've only been a pelican for ~ a year and we came out for music why they host these festivals in Ok I've no idea one was in Pryor Ok (aka bfn) and the last one in Ok city but at least someone had the balls to put them on.

Which state is closest to the center of the earth.

porsche4life 01-06-2011 10:42 AM

Oh you come for that.... They actually did one in Pryor and one in OKC this year. Do it in OK due to the central location.

Death Valley, California.

LSA 01-06-2011 11:29 AM

Yeah that's what my friends and I figured it was the only reason we could possibly think of. What can I say we love the classic heavy metal and hard rock. Yeah they've been doing Rocklahoma for a few years but 2010 was awful there was only a few bands worth seeing and if I'm going to drive ~24 hours I want to see more than just a couple bands.

I went to the one in okc this past summer it was awesome!

RWebb 01-06-2011 11:39 AM

Yes but I will guess Arizona or New Mexico, even tho I have never heard that term, X state for anything.

dyhunter 01-06-2011 01:17 PM

Does Michigan have the most coastline besides alaska? (it's freshwater of course)

Oh, ok, maybe the Peach State.

Schumi 01-06-2011 07:55 PM

speaking of coastline..

This state contains a single manmade lake with more coastline than the entire Pacific coast of California....

edit: I realize there may be more than one correct answer now..
