A Big Public Apology - I was Wrong and I am Sorry.
 

PARF Surfers, I posted what I thought was a joke that turned out to be very offensive to every single minority group including the handicapped.

I now realize that a post went over the line and many found it offensive. I offer no defense other than I was just trying to be funny and be noticed.

I also recognize that no ethnic group or special group was spared in my 'joke'. But please note, I did not use the 'N' word.

Anyone who really knows me knows that I am not a racist. I am actually working very closely with Chikezie Nwaoha and Dr. Oliver A. Onyewuenyi both of Nigeria on a manuscript due out next year. I don't write with anyone unless I respect them. These men are fantastic in their fields and just so happen to be Black. I work for a Jewish family that owns my company that I have more respect and admiration for than any company I have ever been associated with. And while I do not purport to a homosexual lifestyle, one of my best and closest employees is gay. I also have the utmost respect for Mexicans - I have employed many and admire their work ethic and honesty. I am also married to a women who is visually handicapped.

And last but not least my Mother, may she rest in peace was a bleeding heart liberal and as democratic as you can imagine. While I do not agree with that political view I also recognize that the political philosophy of the democrats is needed in our society to make it work.

I am truly sorry that I offended anyone. That was not my intention. Please accept my apology. I shall not be so crass going forward.

Takes a big man to admit when he is wrong... even more so on the Internet where so many opt to hide behind a keyboard.

Now I wish I had seen to to figure out what was so offensive.

Doing dumb stuff is just a matter of time for every one of us. I am honored to have our Lubemaster guiding and instructing me on how to man up and admit to my own error(s) which are lying in wait.

Good on ya lube, but to everyone else please note that he was simply telling a joke in PARF.
he wasn't bagging on any special interest group directly, it was a joke. Obvious to some it was off-color and offensive.

There was a time in this great country when we all had a sense of humor and special interest groups were not not so darned overly-sensitive. They didn't pull out "the card" at each and every opportunity and use it to gain political power.
Unfortunately those days are long gone and we are not allowed to be as honest as we once were.

But times being what they are, we all must live buy the rules.

Off of the top of my head I can think of several jokes that are way more offensive. In the end it is just a JOKE!

I think there's a difference between Huck Finn and calling Jewish people greedy kikes, for example (not that Lube used that word, I never read the joke). I admire the fact that Lube can put decency before his own politics if it means not being hateful. I wish more conservatives were like Lube...
