CES Vegas- new TVs... anything new and great?
So this week the Consumer Electronic show is going on in Vegas. I haven't followed it that closely except that everyone is gunning to release an iPad killer. Good luck.
I am going to buy a new LCD 46" LED TV in the next month or so. For those of you following these things, have any news TVs been announced that make the ones on the market instantly obsolete? From what I have read, it seems as if the bezzles are getting smaller and more TVs are offering internet access, but that's about it, oh and more 3D. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I am sort of following CES, from afar, have not hear much buzz about major advances in TVs. All talk is tablets, MSFT saying next Windows will be on ARM CPUs in addition to INTC, etc. However, you might want to look into the no-glasses 3D technology - Nintendo is using on DS 3D. I don't know if that can come to TV or when it might, but it would be pretty cool. Strongly doubt it would be any time soon though, maybe see it at next year's CES? (That's purely a guess.)

Every year, the consumer electronics industry reinvents the wheel. Buyer beware. And every year, last year's hottest, greatest, best is in the discount bin.
But maybe I am just a jaded industry burnout . . . I don't visit the show floor unless I am forced to . . . Live from Vegas . . . and drunk . . . ![]() Ian

I am trying to follow it. . . IMO this year is "All Android, all the time." Huge jump in cell phone hardware specs. Now seeing dual core processors with each core running up to 1GHz. And they are also starting to add a graphics processor to some phones and they can mirror to a TV or monitor via HDMI cable.
Completely separate from CES, Verizon has scheduled a news conference in NYC for next week. This is supposed to be the iPhone to Verizon announcement.

I'm just counting the days until my AT&T contract runs out. Verizon is going to kill them with the iPhone.

I didn't realize that Phoenix was one of the area where AT&T had an overloaded network. Or is it that the coverage is better there with Verizon?

AT&T is HORRIBLE in the Phoenix area, especially in the NE Valley. The WORST. Verizon is excellent here. I am so sorry I switched, but I did it because my wife really wanted an iPhone. What a fool I used to be. Actually, I got a flat on my 993 in the middle of the desert in NV a while back and my Verizon phone got me nowhere, but I had my AT&T Blackberry from work with me and it got me a towtruck. In my new house I had to buy a microcell to make our iPhones work at all here. And my company switched me to Verizon for my Blackberry before I broke down and bought the microcell.
