I can kick myself. I almost bought a coupe in 2002, for $12K.

that one's been cycling on ebay for ~6 months.

There was another "interesting" one a few months ago, a coupe on a VW pan. Not a kit, a genuine 356 body on a vw pan. It got me thinking... I wonder if you could cut up & shorten a 911 tub to take a 356 body. I've seen outlaws with 911 rear suspension & trailing arms, but none with a 911 front end... I wonder if the shocks would be too tall.

I would love to build a 356/911 hybrid like that. I far prefer the look of the 356 over the 911, but the sound and feel of a 911 is just magic.

About 30 years ago a guy in town had a 912 body bolted onto an early (swing axle) VW type 3 chassis. It was a rusty mess and I can't imagine that it drove very well with a 912 engine, VW transmission, and drum brakes. It had a badge on the dashboard signed by Ferry Porsche claiming it was the 1st 912. I have my doubts about that.
When I was in Syracuse I had a friend with a '57 bug with 912 engine, trans, and rear suspension grafted to the pan. THAT was a car!
