Beautiful car but I can't help but think it looks like a Lotus.

That's not a bad thing.

Maybe Porsche will start producing some light weight "Lotus" like cars in the future???

It was worth getting up at 3:15am to watch. Can't wait to see and hear this "flat fan" V-8 beast on the track...563hp from the gas engine, and hit the button for an electric boost to 767hp....Holy Cr@p, 204 additional ponies with the push of a button

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that car to win LeMans overall. I'm thinking it will be raced in the GT1 class, or maybe in another series altogether.

I wonder what the fan is for? The engine is water-cooled and the Kers device is in the passenger cockpit.

That looks great. It does have 917 elements to it.

I think it would be great for the sport and great for VW as a company to create race and development teams within each group - Audi, Porsche, VW, etc., give them each their own budget and independence and have them to compete for the win at Le Mans. Think of the innovation that would come from having those in-house teams competing against each other.

My thoughts exactly.

Pretty car; at first blush, though, reminds me of a Ford GT.

Is that a flux capacitor in the passenger's seat?

There is another video out with the car on the track...in that video there are some overhead shots, and it apears that the fan is for additional engine cooling.

Lines are not angular enough for a Ford GT, more like a Lotus Elise, and from the front it is similar to a ferrari, there are also many hints to the 917.

In fact, I'm pretty sure this car doesn't fit into even the GT1 class right now, much less any other LeMans class.
