is it easy to change out magazine springs on a sig226?
figured you guys are more reliable than any sig forum..(like i need to be a member at another forum)
i have two mags with fatigued springs. one barely feeds anymore, and i had to retire it today at the range. anyone do this before? are those aftermarket Wolf Springs any good? or just get an OEM sig part?

just did this to 2 problematic guns. It fixed both of them. Don't know if sigs are different than mine but it was easy. When you take spring out note orientation of spring and put it back in same way.... Springs for SIG-SAUER (SIGARMS) P-220 Semi-Auto Pistols

Total cinch. But do one at a time, so you can refer back to the other one to see how everything is oriented. I put the spring in backwards in a P239 mag and it still worked for range qual. for a CCW test. But then I was only allowed six rounds per mag then.

Yes and just catch that spring and don't lose the follower. It's super easy.

Wolff springs are a great replacement! Don't leave the magazines loaded for long periods of time, that's what kills the springs. The 1st thing I do when I get a new or used semi-auto is buy a complete spring kit from Wolff for it and I've never been disappointed!

you like the 5% or 10% spring? and i do leave my mags loaded. the sig was my brother's service piece so it has been loaded up since day one. the springs are gone.

Cliff,
I've used both, they work fine. If you leave the mags loaded, you'll be replacing the springs about once a year. I have 6 mags for my Sig P239 and I carry a load mag and change the mag once a month and rotate through, so all mag springs get some use. Don't buy aftermarket mags, as the ones I've tried are junk, just replace the springs and don't forget to clean them out when you're changing the spring, nobody remembers to do that and the mags get really dirty! I spray them out with KrudKutter, dry them and DO NOT oil the mags! Good luck!

Leaving the mags loaded will not wear out the springs. Its the loading/unloading that wears them out.
