Any decent Mercedes repair shops in Long Beach CA?
My Aunt has a 2005 E class with ervice light on. The stealership wants $2,200 to repair.
She's looking for second opinion/quote Any places to check? Any places to avoid? Thanks.

What code is it storing? Did you scan it? Did they give her a written estimate? Hard to advise you where to go without those details

I wasn't there. Her boyfriend took it in. I just heard it from her. I'm not doing the work I was looking for someone that knows the eclass to send her to.

Right, but some work requires a dealer. Some work can be done by an independent specialist with proper tools, and some work can be done by a 15 year old with a pliers. A service light could mean any of the three. What the service light coded will tell which of the three.

MB of Long Beach is a decent dealership (I used to go there all the time for filters and accessories and stuff) but boy do they stick it to people for service - and they will spam you relentlessly to get you to bring your car in there for it (I never did, but it tells you where their maximum profit margin is...)
Thankfully I only needed to get the taillight recall done - man, the out-the-door cost would have been almost $1,000 to change those taillight lens assemblies! (glad it didn't cost me anything!) I only ever dealt with the parts department other than that. My neighbor used to take his cars to a guy running a shop called "The Mechanic" I think on Redondo near 3rd street but I could check. He spoke highly of them but I never dealt with the place myself. Best of luck.

There's a shop up here on Atlantic just south of Wardlow that is decent. They've struck me as fair businessmen.

I can recommend the best independent in town but it's up in Hollywood. It's this one:
Beverly Laurel Automotive - Hollywood - Los Angeles, CA I do have a relationship with the business and owner, (friend), but his rep is pretty flawless. |
