lunesta v. ambien v. rozerem

Anyone used the newer prescription sleep aids? I've been using ambien on and off for a couple of years and i only get 5 or maybe 6 hours out of it. I've thought about trying the CR version, but wonder if anyone has tried Lunesta or Rozerem?

My current g/f is a pharmacist, she recommends OTC melatonin I can ask her about the others if you wish.

An insomniac friend of mine suggests Restoril.

Actually, the answer was more like, "Those all suck. Why bother? Restoril is the only thing that's even close."

I suggest you ask a doctor, not your Porsche web forum.

Ambien caused me "hangover" in the AM, Rozerem did nothing at all, Lunesta is effective at 2mg and I've been taking it over a year. It's very expensive, but I cannot sleep without it...

Ambien CR has a slower release component which might give you a little more sleep time, restoril and lunesta pretty much have the same effects as ambien.

Rozerem is a different drug, it is a melatonin agonist so it works sorta like taking melatonin but seems to work a little better than melatonin. The nice thing about rozerem is that there is no addictive potential. The bad thing is that it won't work if you aren't tired. It's not a true sedative, it is more of a natural sleep aid.

My advice with the hypnotics (ambien, etc) is always to only take it for 2-3 nights in a row and then give yourself a few nights to try and sleep on your own. Helps to avoid dependence on the med that way.

Ambien CR works great for me with no side effects whatsoever. I took Melatonin for a year or so and eventually had to up the dosage, Once I did that I started having very strange dreams. That had to stop so I switched to Ambien CR and I'm very happy with it.
Everyone is different. What doesnt work for someone else maybe just what you need. You just have ask you Dr what he thinks will work for you and try it.

I prefer the older, proven sleep aids. Lagavulin, Talisker, Balvenie...

Periodically, I take Ambien. I have tried other sleep aids, Lunesta, Seroquel and others. However Ambiem is the one sleep prescription that allows me a good nights sleep and wake up without a drugged feeling. I am then ready to 'take on the world'. Ambien is great and I would definitely recommend it.

You can Buy Ambien here.
