Top Gear 959 vs. F40

Tonight's Top Gear has a pretty interesting segment with Hammond putting a 959 and an F40 up against each other.

Definitely drool worthy.

Another great episode. I agree that those two did start the 200+ trend.

I can't believe the Stig doing timed laps in the rain either. The owners must have been nuts.

Funny how Jeremy says he favours the F40 for it's lack of computers and now all Ferrari produces are high power laptops on wheels...
At least Porsche has some degree of mechanical feel left in the cars they produce... (well, at least some of them...)

I say strip the interior of the 959 to the level of the F40 and give it another go.....

I have never driven a 959. But about a dozen years ago I got to do a few laps of Lime Rock in a friends F40—and that remains the high-water mark of my driving life. Absolutely sensational car. I would give my left nut for one. Possibly my right one as well.

I wonder what the lit warning lights were on the dash of the 959?

What an awesome segment. I've wanted to see that for over 20 years.

Okay what the heck is wrong with my TV. I watched the Monday night episode last night and there was no 959 or F40, just BMW 325 convertibles.

What was that movie they showed the preview of? That looks funny.

I actually torrented (pirated, stole, whatever) the recent BBC episode.

Didn't realize the one shown in the US was a year behind.

Coming from someone that had posters of both on the wall growing up, that is one of my favorite Top Gear segments of all time.

I loved the epic music. So fitting for these two cars.

BTW Jeff, today the 959 would be the only option for the likes of us. Not only couldn't we manage the contortions to get inside the F40, but I don't think either of us could get our arses into that midget seat. I this is why they had the Hamster driving this segment.

My favourite supercar from that era was the Ruf Yellowbird -- it would be fun to have that car included in the comparo.
