Read my first paper paperback book today since Sept 10
Ever since I bought the entry level Kindle, I've not wanted to read a "real" book. Gotta say that I was totally wrong about the devices; thought I'd hate them.
But it is so much easier to read. Both on the eyes and hands, when you're reading one-handed as I do in bed. No more prying the book open with pinky and thumb. Massive hardback books, like Follett's newest was just as light as the lightest paperback you've held. Travel is obviously great. Six thumbs up. To go with the crow I'm eating.

I remember the eBook being first described just before musical CD's came out. Microwave ovens were first described to me in 1966. I flatly denied either could ever happen.

Reading is my 'great escape' on the road. In fact, I only read on the road because my appetite & reading style means that I tend to devour books - so I only read in airports, planes & restaurants. That said, I really don't think that I am ready to give up the tactile feel of a book. Somehow, reading something on a screen doesn't have the same impact as a printed page. Less permanence. But then, I am an old fart.
btw re: part 1 of Follet's trilogy. It is not sucking me in the way his Pillars & World did. I am 1/2 way through it . . . Ian

I used to love my iPhone for reading but got a Kindle for Christmas and I love to read on it. It looks like a paperback but can transport a lot of books on one machine. Just love it.

I've never been able to get into ebooks. Being around technology so long, its nice to escape with a good novel and I appreciate it more with a physical book.
