Not Your Gramma Washer...
Since I will never have someone charge me $100+ for a service call, I open the washer because it started to spin out of balance. Rather easy with this link:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/eab852a13fbc842085256aa200643dd6/$FILE/Duet%20Job%20Aid.pdf I was hopping to find something broken. High and low tech. Printed circuit board and cement weights to keep it from flying off during spins. Luckily I notice a pile of dust under one of the four shock absorber... Sure enough no more sresistance on it. Money save going toward Porsche upgrade ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes, its a 2004 W.D. First repair with about 10 wash per week. Nowadays, you can get something similar for half the price. ![]() ![]()

I have the same washer. 8 years old with small children. Zero repairs to date.

I just fixed my dryer which did not produce heat anymore:
1. Found source of the problem online (google is great) 2. Ordered the $8.10 thermal fuse at repair clinic.com 3. Voila, back in business. The beauty of internet is, there is always someone who has run through the exact same problem.

I just had the same problem with a Kenmore front loader. The dreaded "honey the washer is making weird noises"
I found a broken spring and welded a new hook on it and as i was putting it on discovered that one of the shocks was disconnected which probably led to the spring breaking.

Not on the same scale as everyone elses expoits, but my wife broke our Kitchenaid blender at the top of the mixer motor. Rather than pitch it, I googled the model number and found a place that sold the part and how to fix it for $6.
