CGT - engine out service and detail - picture heavy
|
Wonder what that cost.....
|
Great post!

Wow... What a car! I love detail work like this. :D
|
Please watch this...

I love the little clock on the dash, nice touch. How much does that service cost?

I hope someone chimes in who actually knows for sure. Meanwhile... That video is something else again. You get a really good look at the empty engine bay. |
In picture #9, I notice he is using what looks like a Harbor Freight caliper.

Quite a few high rollers over there on Rennlist. Some talking about having THEIR CGTs serviced...another saying how he never should've sold his. One guy's sig listed the following: 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder 2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo 2010 Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS 2005 Porsche Carrera GT #1012 2008 Porsche TPC/Techart Cayman S Turbo 2006 Porsche Cayman S (track car) 2011 Lamborghini LP 570-4 Superleggera 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia 2008 Ferrari 430 Scuderia 2011 Corvette ZR1 2006 Spyker C8 Spyder |
That sig line sort of says it all. The guy I know with a CGT would probably not even know what it costs after he paid for it. My buddy's fiance' just got a new SL63 Benz. I asked him how much she paid and he said that he didn't know, (never asked and doesn't care), and that he was pretty sure that she didn't know either. She just tells her business manager which one she wants when it's new car time. She traded an SL600 when the lease expired.
Don't get me wrong, I feel more at home with the working stiffs over here but there's a whole 'nother world out there in terms of disposable income. |

I think I really just wanted to post in a CGT thread. Best, Tom |
I have two of those HF calipers. They're so cheap, I got an extra one in case I can't find one of them.
|
It's a different world from mine that these GT's live in. If someone gave me one, I doubt I could afford to service it beyond the normal things (gas, oil, belts, water...). This makes it a true "super car".
Oh and the Blue Point calipers, are around 30 bucks. The HF ones are a better deal for the same tool. |

Even better, the HF caliper comes with a battery cover!
Best, Tom |
Wow that is one crazy looking transaxle! On one side, it appears to have an inlet for cooling? Does this have a remote cooler? Not sure what that is at all, but I am sure it's expensive!

I work in a machine shop where all measurement tools get calibrated annually (at the minimum). The cheap stuff is usually just as accurate but doesn't have the same feel. |
i prefer the pelican crowd-
that said, I would tie a christmas tree to that too just because..... |
