When it comes to coffee, we the people of the Pacific Northwest - are spoiled rotten!!! It used to kill me when I travelled back to Virginia because I could never find decent coffee near where I worked at in Fairfax. The best they had to offer would have been very average here in the NW.

Also, we have drive up coffee kiosks everywhere. This seems to be a west coast phenomenon as the further I go east, the fewer there are. Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled - LOL!

I spend a lot of time in the Northwest. I'm an admitted coffee snob. The independent coffee houses of Seattle are great. Among the best is Ancient Grounds. Never pass that up. However...

While in Eugene Oregon I wandered up to a Dutch Brothers coffee kiosk. Ordered a cafe Americano. Swill. Seriously undrinkable. Maybe I found a bad one. But I hear the Wandering Goat Coffee Company in Eugene is fantastic.

Dutch Brothers had good coffee very early on - years ago, maybe before it reached Eugene from Roseborg

they decided to go for volume & its been down hill ever since

there are several really good roasters, houses, & etc. in Eugene tho - Wand Goat is one

The NorthWest has always been know for its great coffee houses. I've always thought the wet and cold climate was perfect coffee drinking weather. I can't function with out it.

We've got some good bean in these parts. Lately I've been drinking an espresso roast from Cafe Zoka.

Yeppers!

But I hate standing in long lines to buy a bag o beans... and having to drive into downtown Portland to do so... but a man has to do what he has to do.

I will check out some of the others listed here, thank you!

One thing I seriously miss from my days flying out of KPDX is hitting Coffee People each morning for a SlammaHamma. Good stuff.

Friend of mine owns a roasting biz out in Hood River. I'm not a coffee drinker but they say his blends are pretty good. Check him out at:
Coffee, gourmet coffee, wholesale coffee, Arabica coffee, decaf coffee, Christmas coffees - Hood River Coffee Co.

Without a doubt. Our "marine influence" weather feels just like standing on the rail of a ship in the fog. Seriously. GREAT coffee environment. "Fogcutter" is the best name ever for a coffee roast.

And if you like our coffee, wait 'till you taste our beer.
