Wow Just Ordered Some Parts From Pelican

I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out what went wrong...

dhoward 01-26-2011 06:23 PM

Call them.

kanadary 01-26-2011 06:26 PM

i think it depends if there is a tag on the item that says free shipping otherwise its not. i usually get a mix and have to pay shipping for the stuff that's not free. yes, i too try to get $75 even if it means more stuff like oil filters, air filters...etc.

Hugh R 01-26-2011 06:26 PM

With all due respect, you should contact them privately and not air your upset on Wayne's free forum. Kind of like getting invited to someone's house for dinner and then complaining about the service.

aigel 01-26-2011 06:29 PM

Call them! I have never heard of them not making it right.

G

rcecale 01-26-2011 06:36 PM

Chances are, the parts that received a shipping charge are being shipped from a third party vendor or something of the sort.

But he!!, you live in Inland Empire! Drive to the beach and pick the parts up on your own!!! What better way to spend a Saturday than a spirited cruise in a P-car...all the way to the shore and back! :-D

Randy

GO DAWG GO 01-26-2011 06:37 PM

Guys, How can you possibly justify this? Seriously Hugh? I don't want to be an azz.. I just want people to do what they say they are going to do...Kind of sick of getting the raw deal!

How could this possibly require two boxes????????????

You only get better if you know were the problem is!! and I'm sure that is how Wayne would fell.
just saying!!!!

dhoward 01-26-2011 06:39 PM

Call them.

GO DAWG GO 01-26-2011 06:40 PM

Randy,

Maybe, But even if its drop shipped from another supplier, it should be negotiated as "Free" How am I wrong? Thats up to them to work that out!

Tobra 01-26-2011 06:42 PM

Now I am a bit confused, you ordered parts through the off topic forum?

aigel 01-26-2011 06:51 PM

In the time you whine on here all while admitting you didn't read the fine print, you could have contacted the parts guys and have them explain to you the exact situation. Even if you were wrong, there is a chance they help you out. Can we go back to discussing more important things now, like recipes, dogs eating gardening gloves and burnouts? ;)

G

BlueSkyJaunte 01-26-2011 06:59 PM

Call them.

stomachmonkey 01-26-2011 06:59 PM

Curious why you are complaining here before calling customer service.

Maybe you should wait a few days, go out of town and let your wife deal with it.

My point is that you should contact PP. I've ordered a fair amount of stuff from PP, certainly not enough to pay Wayne back for the enjoyment I get from this board, but my point is you shouldn't crap on your host in public. I've ordered parts on Monday and had them at my door step on Tuesday. Granted I live in LA. I ordered the wrong headlight relay from them once, and called them and they said it would cost me more to mail it back than it was worth, and that I could just keep it, and they credited that mistaken purchase towards the cost of the "right" relay that I ordered. You can't get much better than that.

UconnTim97 01-26-2011 07:01 PM

Has anyone mentioned calling them? If not you should do that.

Pelican customer service is one of the primary reasons for shopping here. I wish all customer service ran as well as Pelican Parts does.

daepp 01-26-2011 07:02 PM

As far as I'm concerned, I would pay more than list due to my excessive use of the BBS!

GO DAWG GO 01-26-2011 07:04 PM

G,

Yes, I could pick up the phone and make a call. Why should I have too?

If I spend over a certain amount and they say it will be "free shipping"...It should be...Period! I don't care if there manufacturers are in BFE. Or who it is? I didn't make the offer. I just responded to it and spent my money...

Anyway- Maybe I shouldn't have posted this and just blew it off.

If I say I will be there , I will..If I say I will do something I will..No Nonsense kind of guy...Sorry! No escapes!

Reminds me of a situation years ago. I was 18 and working at a parts store for the summer. This young couple came in and tried to buy an oil filter on sale. Our sign said "$2.99 and up". The guy was pissed when I told him it would be $3.99. "But the sign says $2.99!". WTF! "It says $2.99 AND UP. Your filter is on of the "and up" filters. His argument was "but it says $2.99!"

I worked for many years in cust svc positions whether it was retail or bar tending or technical support or whatever. This sort of complaint occurs from time to time.

Arizona_928 01-26-2011 07:06 PM

Shipped from two different warehouses. Two boxes. ;)

porsche4life 01-26-2011 07:13 PM

If you were smart enough to read it all.... The free shipping is on qualifying items.... That second box obviously isn't qualifying items.... Most of us have figured that out.....

Because mistakes and misunderstandings, just like ****, happens. A responsible business wants to hear about this stuff so they can improve. They might very well appreciate the feedback. I know that I would.

Anyway- Maybe I shouldn't have posted this and just blew it off.

Bob

Avoiding confrontation. That's healthy. Might also be why you keep getting, in your own words, .....the raw deal!

Joe Bob 01-26-2011 07:19 PM

I suppose they could have changed it since you saw it, but now it says

"free shipping on many parts or 3 day for $3 on many parts *click for details"

Is this like one of those tests in school where the teacher says, "read through the whole test before you start.". Most of the students do NOT read the whole test, but instead start answering questions. A small handful of the students follow the instructions and discover that the last question says something like, "leave all of the questions blank and turn the test in and you'll get a 100%."

Yeah, you're one of those kids that didn't follow instructions.

GO DAWG GO 01-26-2011 07:20 PM

Sidney,

It didnt appear to be offered that way...

GO DAWG GO 01-26-2011 07:26 PM

Call them tomorrow and square this away!

Arizona_928 01-26-2011 07:46 PM

Yeah it explains it on the website. The free shipping is items that are common and are stocked in the Socal warehouse. The stuff that you have to pay shipping for is the unusual and special order items and they are from the Norcal warehouse. I prolly mixed up the warehouses, but you get the gist?

pelican is nice they are slightly higher then most places but the customer service and those cool stickers make up for it. Which I didn't get in my last order. :(

AZAirCooled 01-26-2011 07:54 PM

I've bought a lot of parts from Pelican and returned a few too. They have always been the best. I'm taking side bets that you didn't get screwed.

Also I agree with Hugh that you are out off line to air your complaint here without calling them first to find out what happened and give them a chance to help you or help you understand.

Sorry if that is too harsh but you put it out here for comments.

You must have a nice running 944 after that order... lol
I have about 3 grand into mine. these N/A's are the biggest waste of money.

Joeaksa 01-26-2011 08:03 PM

You know, as much as certain parts of Pelican is not on my "top ten list" the last week or so, will have to say that their service has always been VERY good.

Dammit, pick up the phone and call customer service. You should have called them FIRST and not complained here about it.

JoeA

porsche4life 01-26-2011 08:04 PM

That wasn't all on the 944. The M3 got a new radiator and a few little other goodies....

I did spend almost 2k with paragon parts this year.... The 944 is a tight in a corner now though.....

I've got about 3 grand in my car this year by the time you figure the alignment and cornerbalance....

Joe does the Jimmy ******* special come with free shipping ?:D

tevake 01-26-2011 08:53 PM

Each and every item we order from here in Hawaii has to have shipping paid for by buyer.
Doesn't seem any farther than new England, or Fla. but that is the way it is. Their policy is pretty clear, just got to look at the details. As stated the sales reps can explain what happening.
Time to move on!

+1, pick up the phone and call them. Pelicanparts has very good customer service and will certainly try and help you.

After you've talked to them, please report back so we can tell you we told you so...

livi 01-26-2011 09:58 PM

sammyg2 01-27-2011 06:00 AM
