it's HOT here in Adelaide....

It made 109 Fahrenheit, 42 Celsius today.

That's hot for late January but it can get as high as 113 Fahrenheit or 45 Celsius mid summer here.
South Australia is a very dry state. That's the only reason it's bearable.

Meanwhile there's slowly cleaning up after the massive flooding in Queensland and there's still wide spread flooding in Victoria.

I heard they had Bull Sharks swimming down the streets. They said that the big gas pipeline leak was not deterring them. Yikes! http://news.discovery.com/animals/sharks-swimming-in-australias-flooded-streets.html

This autumn was really hot here in southern California.

This was Sept. 17, about 2:30, before the sun hit it.

This was a couple hours later when the sun got to it. It was pegged. I have no idea how hot it really was there.

It went on for a week or two like that. No letting up, even at night.

It did finally get frosty and icy just before New Years Day, but then the off-shore flow from the desert came in and we have had about 4 weeks of mid to high 70s and sunny blue skies.

Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia. (circled in blue)

We have a small but dedicated Porsche club with some very fast cars.

Adelaide used to have the Grand Prix, right? Was it in Melbourne last year? I know there is a turn somewhere called the Adelaide Hairpin.

I hope you have air conditioning. Here in my student apartment there is not. It is kind of an oven the way the floors and rooms are arranged. Even on mild days the rooms seem hot. Having a campus spread out on a hill makes for a brutal trip to class on the hottest days, even though it is only about a 1/4 mile away.

Air conditioning is a must have here. Although some people manage without it.
I'm lucky because I live walking distance from the beach.

-----------------

Yes, We had the F1 Grand Prix for many years. There's a road named after Ayrton Senna here amongst others.
Melbourne have done a great job with the GP since getting it.

EDIT: I've been to California and spent some time working there. Great place.

When was the last time you raced there? It's pretty good right now... New surface about 4 years ago.

The "drift" kids don't mind
