Those are some very well trained cops, spot on with the target shooting. Maybe they were sick the day they gave "here's a spot, try to hit it from 5 feet", day at the range. I sure feel safer with folks like this protecting me, glad THESE dont.

Extreme situation... That guy must have been shot a few times before he went down.

But he just kept coming and coming. The cop at the back who returned fire over the rear desk is one brave SOB.
He didn't hesitate when he had a clear chance. Staring down a barrel like that would test any mans resolve. The cop next to him did the best he could.
See how quick things can go from quiet to crazy...
The gunman must have been on some heavy duty drugs to go in like that. And to jump the counter???...

What was his problem with the cops? I guess we'll never know.

Watch the narrated version. Good break down.

No one should judge any of the cops in this video. They did the very best they could.

Well, shooting at targets and shooting in a life/death situation with fear/adrenaline pumping are two very different things. Your thinking is beyond ignorant.

If you ever get the crap scared out of you or if you're gonna get in a fight and your adrenaline starts flowing, pick up a stick and point it at something and watch it wiggle. It's very difficult.

Real life shootouts are not as pretty as the choreographed ones you watch on T.V. These guys did pretty damn good.

That's probably only becaue you have not read any of this fine officer's other posts. One of the most juvinile contributors of this forum. And he runs around with a badge and a gun...

silverwhaletail is a cop? damn.

i think the cops did a fine job "sticking and moving". i had a hard time watching the video. you could feel the fear and intensity. my brother's various stations feel like armed banks. you couldnt pull that assault off there.

Wow- Strupgolf was way out of line and he is obviously an ignorant individual. But Silverwhaletail that is an extremely disturbing post coming from a police officer. You should rethink your profession you should not be in law enforcement and should not be allowed to possess a weapon.

From the video, it appears the nutjob had a clear shot at 2 cops behind the counter but did not take it. Also blasted a cop at almost point blank range but didnt kill him? So I am guessing not buck shot? Maybe he was trying a suicide deal?? Who knows. Sick times we are living in.

This is the umpteenth time someone has made such a suggestion. I think we'll end up reading about Silverwhaletail in the news someday. He sure makes me not want to be on CA's roads any more than I have to be.

It presents an interesting situation what do you do with a guy like this?

He makes a statement the gun man should have walked into a school and shot it up.

He is a sef described "Dirty Cop". and his Hobby "is shooting People".

So to go back to the Az shooter discussion are these warning signs? How should this be handled?

I hope it's all just Internet bravado or that his periodic psych. eval. would catch something. Scary if he's serious and not funny if he's joking.

I don't blame some of the officers on this board for being more than a little jaded.
If one works with a certain type of clientel(some very much human scum) for decades, it's human nature to build up a pychological resistance and to fall into preconcieved methods of operation. The physical demands can be great, and every situation has a potential of injury and/or death.

Anytime they are in public, they are bound into serving first an often inept and complex political, moral, and/or economic system that pushes them to act a certain way without the protections of a clear system to follow.
Ultimately, they morally serve as the last fallback for the protection of society.

That being said, the rift between the police and the "public they serve" often ends with two sets of walls being built up. The public excuses flagrent actions of it's individuals and authority does the same.
