What a hockey game!
2/9/11 Bruins host Montreal
Final score 8 - 6 Bruins. 7 goals scored in 6:19 minutes. 8 goals scored in the 2nd period alone. 157 combined penalty minutes. 13 players in the penalty boxes at one time. A fight between Goalies Tim Thomas and Carey Price. Tons of hits, blocked shots, great chances. Welcome to the 1970's. I loved it (especially since the Bruins won). |
Should have been 9-6. The disallowed goal was b/s.

I didn't watch that one, but I watched the Red Wings lose to the Predators. So we'll win the next one... Oh yeah, it's against the Bruins! There's a chance I might even attend on Sunday.
|
Um the Bruins only won 1 cup in the 70's where the Habs won at least 4 and the Flyers 2 so the B's were not winning a whole lot back then.

But, we'll meet in the Play Off and it will be different... I hope :D:):D |

I just hope the B's can get some rest. The Wings won't be as easy to push around. Suban did more for the B's than for his team. |
I know and I can't believe that. Maybe the RW throw them a bone and they take advantage of it? RW gotta step it up or they'll be out in the first round. We gotta get our players off the 'injured' list..
|
Well, I think the Wings were ready to stop losing and the Bruins were still recovering from the slug-fest with the Habs. 6-1 Wings. Ouch.
|
I didn't see that one. We had to go to the MSU VS Northern Mi game on Friday. Which we lost. My sons hockey team was doing a shootout during the first intermission. MSU lost to them again on Saturday night but it was a way better game and a nail biter at the end. Doesn't look like I'll be going to the RW - Bruins game today but will be watching it.. LETS GO RED WINGS!!!
|
Good game today up til the 3rd period when the B's didn't show up...

Joe
I think they are still reeling from the slug fest that we lost. With only 1 point difference (Boston has a game in hand) it should be an interesting race to the finish. Cheers JJ |
I think Detroit is just a better team. Bertuzzi is great when he plays. Big, strong, fast, and great hands.
Bruins have lost Savard, how do you replace a guy like that? You can't....unless you grab someone at the trade deadline. Good on Marchand for getting a nice goal after that horrendous behind the back give-away drop pass. |

If one was to live in the past. The Canadians had many fine years but that was then and this is now.
The B's will easily take the Habs if they stick to Bruin style hockey. The Habs don't have the weight to throw around like the B's do. Also, with all due respect, I'll take Thomas over Price thank you. |

JJ is a man of his word. I enjoyed my copy of the Habs book last year during a week at the beach.
I would speak up about my Flyers at this time but I am a bit concerned right now with their play and that Pronger may not be back for this series. Technical vs. Hasek Style ? Hard to say. Its easier as a defenseman to play in front of a technical guy. You can also follow the statistics with a technical guy and pretty much figure out what he's going to give you. The flopper has something the technical guy wont ever have, the ability to make some rediculous save. The technical goalie has the ability to make the hard save look easy. |
JJ - I wish I could take you up on that one. I am an ex gambler (amongst other things). I am willing to make a public statement to the world as to how unworthy my team is if they are beaten by yours. Loser has to have the winning team's logo as their avatar for the remainer of the playoffs. Deal?
1990 - I didn't say that Price wasn't good. The boy plays under a lot of pressure in that town. I just think that Thomas is the best in the league this year. "Flipping and flopping"? Yeah, I know, it never worked for Hasek either. If nothing else, he's more fun to watch than someone like Brodeur (who has a better lifetime record but is at the end of his usable career). "When Thomas is off" - I think the hip surgery took care of that. How about we put aside opinion and style preference and look at this year's stats? I hope he has room for the new Vezina he'll be getting this year. |
