Hey Joe
That was a helluva game at 'The Joe' last night. I think you may agree that Pavel Datsyuk would look good in any NHL jersey. The guy is just unbelievably strong on the puck. I agree with you - in that we've been fortunate to witness some damn good hockey. "Play on", I say! Cheers JB |
Well, the Wings looked like they might have made it if they didn't have those injuries. Of course, that's part of the playoffs. That said, the Sharks earned their place in the western finals.
Eastern finals start tonight. Game one will be interesting. Both teams swept their last round so they've had tons of time to study the other team and neither one has an energy advantage. The B's are a defensive time with lots of beef. The Bolts are a scoring team with so serious talent. Bergeron is out and Seguin could be the wild card if he steps up to his potential (second overall draft choice). Sometimes, pressure like this brings out the superstar in a player. Other times, they have an "Ovech-choke" as opposed to an Ovechtrick (although in fairness, he didn't choke this year like in the Olympics and past playoffs). 8 PM. Game on. |

Ovechkin waited for the World Championships to choke. They lost yesterday to Finland. |

Tampa Bay looks unstoppable. They are a really frustrating team to play and your only hope is to grind out a 1-0, 2-1 game. You can play them hard and with their skill, all it takes is one error and the light goes on. Give them a multi goal lead and you open up all kinds of problems on your defense. The Pens were able to grind out 3 victories until the Bolts figured out that they didn't have worry about being shorthanded. I'm hoping its not another sweep, but the other two series the Bolts played against looked stronger in their first game.

The Bruins looked like game one against the Habs. Thomas wasn't sharp. He let two soft goals make 3-1 out of what should have been a 1-1 game. That would have changed the way they played. The PP had no power. They tried to muscle the Bolts and entice them into fights. The only bright spot is that they did get some serious chances against Roloson.
If they want to win this series they need to: 1) keep out of the sin bin, 2) give Seguin more ice time (he has energy and Bolts defense doesn't know his patterns yet) and, 3) pray that Thomas comes back (as he usually does after an embarrassing game). |
Seguin scored a nice goal. But was on the ice for the first two against for sure, maybe more...
Bruins will not win if a) they don't have a power-play and b) they keep taking stupid penalties. I say they can't do both and will lose. (Bench Kaberle, or no pp time would be a good start) |

Unfortunately wrt to #2, Ti-Claude is a "old school" coach that really on the veterans at playoff time. After 3-0, Seguin got to play. As soon as he score, a 3-1 game was no longer a lost cause so Seguin end up warming the bench until it was a lost cause again. 1 goal, 1 pass out of 2 goals in less then 10 minutes of play... Game 2 will tell the series story. |
Seguin went -3 last night, Boston needs to quit believing their own BS and play
|
Wpw, tough crowd here. Seguin had virtually nothing to do with the goals against his line. TT and Kaberle take the credit. I don't think the kid is going to save the day but if he's got more energy than Peverley and Kaberle combined and I think he deserves a shot at more TOI.
JJ: "4) all of the above" was what I was saying and as such, they have a tough job ahead. |

I was going for the visual effect... Seguin is -1 in the last 5 game. He should get more ice time. |

Tough crowd, yes. It's easy to be a critic. Even easier anonymously.
Seguin will be something someday. At age 19 it's not likely this year. |
are you kidding me? , 13 seconds?
|
jeez these refs are tragic
