				Al Holbert's Lowenbrau 962

This was in a Liquor Store hanging over the Lowenbrau Beer display. Who walks in the Liquor Store.....Al Holbert himself. Al tells the store owner that he was the driver of the car, and the owner asks Al to sign the top for him......

I've had this for many years, and Al's signature is fading away. ![]() ![]()

Hey! I've got one of those in my garage. Picked it up at a Lime Rock vintage event from a vendor who wanted to make sure it found a good home. Mine isn't signed by Holbert, but I've never seen another one and never been able to figure out any history about them. Very cool. I spent a few years in Philly, so ended up seeing the car a ton at the dealership and at local events.

Paul, it looks like you were right at the kink or a little before, judging by the stands in the background.

I was there with three buds and we were about halfway between the kink and five. What a race. This is two photos I took that were Photoshopped together for me by a friend.

Wow, that is one cool collector's item. I used to see that car quite a bit when he had it on display in his dealership.

hey, i think i took that same picture! wait, maybe i missed that year. that was the year i went in the military, but i have about the same exact picture from the same spot from the previous years.

the first year we went to daytona i must have shot 20 rolls of film, over the years that number drindled to around 2 or 3. if i went today, not sure i would even take the camera. one year we stuck the race porgram in one of those ticket holders, hung the big camera lens over it and walked right in the pits. ive got some over the wall awesome shots of AL's car on pit road. one of these days i am going to scan some of the good pics. another year i found these showers, i guess for the drivers, so when i get out of the shower, standing next to me was brian redman is standing next to me. i grabbed my things and got quickly. i dont get to tell this story much, kinda hard to say i took a shower with brian redman without sounding gay......not that there's anything wrong with that. Keep it AWAY from FLUORESCENT light to stop any more fading... will fade ink, dyes, etc. (or sunlight). Last edited by tcar; 04-06-2011 at 12:21 PM.. |

I've got one also, picked it up at Parade and managed to shove it the 911 with all our stuff. It's hanging in my old storage garage. I should clean it up and rehang it at home.

You know it's Holbert's sig, so trace it. What harm can be done? I mean the thing isn't worth hundreds. Well, maybe a couple.

962.com might know what its worth. They are always looking for Holbert Lowenbrau memorabilia. |

I would have paid a mint to have that in my dorm room when I was in college. Lowenbrau was one of my upscale beer choices back in the day. Always kept a few in the fridge to impress the lady types.
