Carabela Profesional, about thirty years old. First generation Dura Ace components, Columbus tubing. First cousin to a Windsor Pro (same bike basically, except with Campy components), which was a copy of a Cinelli.

I haven't ridden it in years. Probably ought to sell it.

I'm getting these tested right now! I've tried for 5 years to get them to sell them to the states. Wish me LUCK!

look 171 02-11-2011 10:55 PM

Why can we get the Met helmets? fail snell test or something? They use them in the pro circuit or teams overseas, or are they not the same thing or re-badge of someone else's products. I still can't get over that knife. do you use it much and how does it hold an edge. It was a BB tool, right? Now I want to make one.

I should have MET here in the States for ALL of us around April. They will be the REAL thing MADE in Italy. and right now there's 16 helmets sitting at Act Labs LLC here in So-Cal to be tested. Met has assured me that they have tested them and they have passed. I'm just doing my part. They truly fit well and ventalation is tremendous!

Please wait a bit before you start talking about them!

The Knife...well it's art. I have only cut a piece of paper with it. Yes, it's the BB/pedal wrench.

I'm working on a folder made of two crank wrenchs & a 80's chain ring bolt.

I wouldn't say anything to anyone. I have been out of the loop with all the local hammer heads hot dogs. I am just in the market for a new helmet. I started to ride a little again. Nothing serious like before, its just for fitness now. When do you think I will be able to get one of those helmet at my local shop. Are you the sole importer?

I think you are nuts but I can't wait to see this folder you are talking about. What does this folder do?

Jeff

An Aussie custom frame makers work... And he's a nice guy. A lot of his clients are in the USA.
His waiting list for a complete frame is about 2 years.

I've always been a fan of these:

classic handmade japanese goodness

On a recent business trip to Tokyo, I stumbled across this brand: Kinfolk. Looked very nice and old-school.

Here's the frame that the framebuilder at Hutch BMX used as a reference. (when they were made here in Baltimore, MD) The masking tape has tube names and measurements written on them.

Not pron, but the Japanese have it down pat when it comes to bicycles.

I was once in Kyoto, huffing up a 20-30% grade of an underpass tunnel, when a 70yo man, with his freakin' wife sitting on the back, came up from behind and passed me like I was standing still!

Later, I was told he probably had an electric-assist wheel.
-The only one that seems to be available here is the E-bike wheel at $600.
-The Green Wheel was promised to be a few hundred but isn't for sale(yet).
- There are others for sale with bluetooth/data tracking/unecessary crap that is also available.

I'm more into off road single track, but it takes a while for our trails to open up... probably not until May this year.:(

CurtEgerer 03-29-2011 06:50 PM

This is my old Cannondale SE1000. The ?first? production suspension frame mountain bike. Interestingly, it had rear suspension and a rigid front fork :D

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1301449776.jpg

vmb 03-30-2011 07:48 AM

Isn't that a Girvin Flex Stem (I think that's what they were called) on that C'dale? There sure were a lot of different approaches to suspension design in the early 90's.

CurtEgerer 03-30-2011 08:03 AM

Yup, Girvin Flex-stem was the front suspension. I think the front fork was called the Pepperoni or something like. Funky bike, but pretty cool at the time.

JFK713 03-30-2011 02:13 PM

Not exactly a bike. It's the PiMoto -- and I think it's the best looking moped on the planet.
