Fuchs on my travel trailer.....

I traded for a Jayco tent trailer. Thing has those crappy 10 inch wheels and is lower than a TJ 63 Chebby Impala. Two of the three tires have suspect sidewalls and I can't tell which decade there were made.

Lifted the body 6 inches, ordered some 4x4inch to 5x130mm adapters (it's not a race car, so chill), gonna drag it behind my Yukon or the 911.

Overall lift will be 9 inches..... Cost including the adapters was under $200. I had the Fuchs just sitting and the steel was scrap from the pile.

No more speed bump, drive way or dirt road scrapes.....using a 15x6 with a 195/50 tire. Offset was 1.5 inch different which the spacer will correct.....

I'm bored outta my GD mind.....I need a new back and a job.

The lift took me probably 4 times as long as it should have. I hate being a damned invalid.

Good idea, those 10 inch tires really don't last.

The biggest worry was the bearing housing fitting inside the hole on the Fuchs. Tight fit.

It should be fun when it's done. I love the look of a polished and brush finished Fuch.

Finished the 2"x6" steel spacers between the axle and the frame. The install took a good four hours. Dulled 2 half inch Carbide drill bits at 12 bucks a piece. Used grade 8 nuts, bolts, washers and locks. Cranked them down to 120 foot lbs.

The adapters aren't ready yet but did a test fit of the wheels.

The first (that I know of) Jayco tent trailer with German alloy wheels. Bling on a ghetto camper.....

Before anyone says anything, the goofy wheel/jack stand combo where just for the pic. Needed to get it high enuff to get the wheels on.

Next I'm gonna weld some box tubing on all four corners. I have a few extra jack pads.

There are no SAFE lifting points. I used four jack stands while doing the welding and drilling.

Looks cool! I suppose since it's a lightweight trailer, it doesn't matter if your not using trailer rated tires?

1500 lbs dry weight. I suppose I could get trailer tires when these get old. I figure 195s are standard on 3,000 lbs sport cars.....I won't be exceeding 70mph on a good day.

Most likely will be doing 55-60. It will do most of the travel behind the Yukon. I'll do a few meets with the 911 towing it. But not much.

It looks good Joebob. But I think it would look better with RS flares.

Talk with Kachi, he can hook you up with some Home Depot ground effects for better MPG.

Just curious. Did the spacers and wheels change the offset appreciably? That might lead to stress on the bearings. On the other hand, you've reduced rotational velocity by close to half, so that should help the bearings last, all else being equal.

The Fuchs were deeper by 1.5 inches on the back side but had the same tire width. I corrected the offset by having the adapter made 1.5 inches thick. I've also repacked the bearings and ordered bearing buddies.

The only difference is the tire height. Which will actually help the bearings since there is now less rotation at the same highway speeds.

I need to pick up a cheap collapsible spare from a 911.
