and YOU thought YOU WERE OCD!
well yet another addition to the family.
my younger sons M1-A "LOADED" with stainless barrel and black evil synthetic stock. as mentioned WE CANT LEAVE NUFFING ALONE! since last summers arrington accuracy UBER-I-ZATION of my springfield armory SUPER DUPER MATCH w/every KNOWN super zoomy goodie part we had super duper match parts left over. so the "LOADED" has now gots some real goodies installed, to UBER-I-ZE IT! 1) a USGI bipod. not the cheap azz chinese crap offered. 2) super duper match piston 3) super duper match op rod guide 4) super duper match hammer spring 5) super duper match op rod guide spring 6) USGI NYLON sling. not POS course web from china 7) sadlak combat wombat mag latch 8) sadlak combat wombat wide bolt holder open thingy latch 9) and a slew of other gizmos i had left over to support the damn thing(tools/brushes/etc). kid was in such a hurry to go blasting, he declined a pre-blasting lube job. took the damn thing out and rattle battled off 170 rds. kind of got the sights somewhat on but couldnt figure out completely(left owners manual at home). sooooooooo...............i gave him the basic retard field cleaning modus operandi, and then when he was gone, i tore the entire thing down/cleaned the hell out of EVERYTHING! gave it the USGI armourers grease job(tetra). gave it the USGI lube job(CLP), added all of the goodie parts. and this pup is ready for SOME MEGA BLASTING! this thing in this config is a feather compared to my super duper match w/heavy barrel. ran the sights up 8 clicks from bottom for todays BLAST -O-FESTIVUS, and that should put me pretty damn close at 100yds. possibly up to 12 clicks. we will see with 147 gr USGI FMJ rounds. and on the menu for todays for BLAST-O-FESTIVUS: 1) unfired M-1 carbine that arrington accuracy built 2) marlin 1895GS 45/70 that i just added a pachymayer decelerator butt pad that gave me an inch more for my LOP, which really helps due to my long arms and some williams fire sights for some more dialing in. 3) my buddies FN/FAL which has been giving him fits because he is one of those IDIOTS that thinks YOU CAN SHOOT YER SPOON CLEAN! NOT! he is having gas problems and FTF and FTE, so i get to beat into his head "A CLEAN SPOON IS A HAPPY SPOON MANTRA! ![]() yep thats (3) freeking M1-A's in the stable now! ya get damn good at them thru repetition trust me.

note 3rd pic of super duper match gen 3 scope mount. we replaced that with an ARMS picatinny rail, and ARMS QUICK DETACHABLE SCOPE RINGS, so i can yank that damn 4.5 X 14 scope off in about 2 seconds and in about 2 seconds place it back on without LOOSING MY "COVETED" ZERO!
and if you have ever fought a "ZERO" you will know EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN! the kids "loaded" will now get my gen 3 springfield scope mt and rings for his scope when he finally springs for one and has the bucks.

yeah i am too. crap im becoming a freeking M1-ARMOURER!
been playing with these gas guns for awhile now. years ago i qualified for the CMP M-1 garand purchase.(yeah ya actually have to be a member of a shooting team, and yeah ya actually have to hit the damn target and avoid M-1 THUMB at all cost. points off big time for M-1 thumb!) i did this and decided hell, lets buy a M1-A. so then i moved into the M-1 carbines, and played with those, and then moved back to bolts and built a M40-A1 with mcmillian here. then another bolt my mcmillian win m-70 in .338 win mag. and then back into the M1-A's with the socom, and then off to lever action la-la land, and here we go full circle back into ANOTHER M-1A! and once we get going...............well it all goes to hell! yep the other day i took apart and rebuilt (3) M1-A's and the M-1 carbine. not some foo foo bore snake clean.............i mean TOTALLY TORN APART! and rebuilt and lubed the USGI ARMOURERS WAY! its just one of many sickness' i have. today is : LETS SEE IF WE CAN HIT SOMETHING ASIDE FROM THE BROADSIDE OF THE BARN DAY!

re: bigger isnt always better.............................
well when the bad guy is behind a 8x8x16 block wall................well you will grasp my "7.62x 51 mantra!" trust me on this as we have done this ourselves testing rds. as far as BIPODS............................ you have the very spendy USGI and you have the chinese copies. now mine is USGI and it was spendy. butt it will be a cold day in hell when i buy anything chinese associated with a M-14. and as far as the norinco copies of the M-14.............well one popular gun mag after testing them and having a receiver blow up...........showed a picture of them in a TRASH CAN! over 200 something machine ops on a M-14 receiver. and ya better get it right the 1st time. but hey call me OCD. also there is a influx(call it dumping) of chinese M-1 carbine/M-1 garand/ and M-14 parts tools cleaning kits on the market. so BE WARY and ONLY BUY FROM A REPUTABLE SOURCE! on the smaller bipods go to SADLAK.com and talk to "DEE" there. she will get you hooked up on a harris bipod and all the parts to do it. there mount is 3X stronger than anyone elses. and bipods do get hammered alot. another source for M-1 garand M-1 carbine, M-14 is billriccasurplus .com. bill ricca posts on the M-14 forums. he is a great guy and knows his poo backwards and forwards on these and all his stuff IS GENUINE USGI parts. they are a METAL to METAL spoon. therefore proper heat grease(350 degrees F or better-shooters choice/tetra) all the way down to freezing(-50 degrres F) must be used along with yer fave lubricant. mines mil-comm or CLP for lube.

Chuck,
Having read a ton of stuff from various mags & smiths (in addition to knowing some folks with the guns), there is nothing wrong with chinese receivers. If anything they may be better because they are forged vs SA civi cast receivers. The usual suspect is the bolt, and the gun must be headspaced - not things that are difficult to do. Plus the chrome lined barrel is more than you'd get on a plain Jane SA. For function folks recommend changing the op rod and trigger group, but you were going to do that anyway (like you did), so why not start with the forged receiver for less?

i dont have TIME! time is the most PRECIOUS COMMODITY i have. waste my time and i am PISSED! BIG TIME! yesterday, at our BLAST -O-FESTIVUS my buddies FN would not shoot. he is a lazy cheap azz. he believed(past tense) that you can shoot gas guns clean. well guess what? YA CANT! everything has a finite life before it says "GO TO HELL I WILL NOT GO BANG BECAUSE YOU ARE A LAZY CHEAP AZZ AND YOU WONT CLEAN ME!" well yesterday he brags to me in front of his (2) sons that he has NEVER CLEANED his romanian ak-47 since he bought it years ago. and GUESS DAMN WHAT???? the damn thing goes "CLICK!" not bang! and i about fell off my tailgate laughing as we went roundy roundy 10 minutes before about the FN! LMFAO! so much for that STOOPID THOUGHT PROCESS! anyway i had more laughs after warning the (3) of them about my 45/70 shoulder MANGLER 18" barrel 1895 GS in 45/70. handed them each a real live indian round. 45/70/405 pushing 2000fps. dad after shooting it 1st yelled "CHEESE AND RICE!" , #2 son then shot it and yelled "CHEESE AND RICE!" and then smartazz whippersnapper youngest son #3 thought he was really cool and knew everything...............and let that puppy go and NAILED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF HIS SHOULDER "PURPLE" with recoil. once again damn near fell off my tailgate LMFAO! needless to say none of them had EVER been ABUSED by a spoon of that MAGNITUDE like that before! LMFAO! man that was precious! next up was a carbon copy minus the full auto, of my dads wwii 5 yr stint in new guinea, biak, luzon M-1 carbine winchester mfg'd in 1944 that i have gone compeletely through as well as phil arrington waving his magic wand over. we set up targets at 100yds deadnutz with the leupold lazer(laser) range finder, set the m-1's sights on 100yds and proceeded to BLOW THE HELL OUT OF THEM! man that was cool. 30rd mag dumps as fast as ya can! and then a reload. and then another. and then another with various good ammo/hunting ammo, crap old surplus ammo. not a single whimper from it. man i was happy about that. so damn happy i came home and lovingly took it apart, q-tipped it clean, swabbed the bore spotless. man i love that spoon for a kick around stoopid lightweight i dont give a damn if i see a deer spoon, and if i do...............it will drop him 200yds away. it already has (2) knotches on the stock from (2) dead deer that thought they were smarter than me. and one of those deer was my buddies dead to rights when on another trip his ar-15 went "click" hahahaha that damn deer nailed by my m-1 carbine is on his wall at his house. and i NEVER LET HIM FERGIT IT EITHER! double LMFAO at that one. then we proceeded on with the "loaded" M1-A stainless barrel, black evil synthetic stock with super duper match goodies supplied by dad. spent alot of damn time with this one working on it and it was DEAD NUTZ at 100yds with just 8 clicks up from zero with 150gr magtech bullets. not a whimper and we dumped some 20-25 rd mags so fast the barrel was boiling! i mean damn HOT! wiped all the excess grease off after every mag dump and shes a shooter. shot my buddies lake havasu carbon fiber ar-15 with an eo-tech scope on it again and he finally got the bugs out of it and i really did like the eo-tech scope(red circle). that was fun. its a cute "girls" spoon in my book. his other ar-15 he finally also got the bugs out of(bushmaster) and it shot fine. this is the one he reloaded some hunting ammo one deer season, sprayed wd-40 on the primed cases, and the damn spoon went "CLICK" on him on another deer hunt because primers deactivated by wd-40! i dont let him fergit that one either! LMFAO! and we shot a smattering of his pistols and he has his work cut out for him cleaning them. so btwn last night and this early am , the 45/70 shoulder mangler and the m-1 carbine have been lovingly cleaned within an inch of their lives and placed back in their happy homes. the M1-A i will wait til next weekend with RICK LEE so i can shoot some FED 168gr BTHP's and see how they group and then clean it. maybe if i am bored i'll run a swab down the bore. and then that will lead to the q-tips, and then that will lead to tearing it apart...........................and it all goes down hill from there. i think i'll just stick with my regime and clean the damn thing despite my son being lazy also and leaving it for dad............which is PAR!

Yes, very happy with my M1A. Anyone know who does good trigger jobs or should I just do it myself?

well if ya want the PITA of shipping:
arrington accuracy.com did mine. smith enterprises. LRB i think is in new yawk(york) city. go to M-14 forums and join and then ask the questions whose close to your area. or............................... go to brownells/midway and buy the super zoomy very expensive entire trigger group for the m-25/m-21/super matches(they are all the same) and just drop it in in a heartbeat. butt.................this will DQ you from highpower DCM matches. my sons "loaded" in comparison to both the SOCOM and the SUPER DUPER MATCH trigger groups that phil smoothed out(legal for DCM) , had a lil bit of creep, before letoff and BANG! wasnt even bothersome enough to even suggest a trigger job to my kid as he doesnt have the bucks to dump into it. as he progresses, and becomes proficient, and starts shooting iron site highpower out to 1000yds, then i will suggest it to him. or he will figure it out when he shoots either my SOCOM or SUPER DUPER MATCH one after another and FEELS the DIFFERENCE! i can deal with the creep as i AM THE ARMOURER and i get to dry fire them, clean them, lovingly grease them, lovingly lube them, lovingly stroke them...............and i KNOW when its going from creep to click/bang. as a 22 yr old kid.....................i am not even going to turn his brain to mush mentioning the trigger creep. hell his brain is gonna turn to MUSH when i MAKE HIM pull the op rod/pull the piston with the correct tools, pull the op rod guide, op rod spring, pull the handguard with the correct pliers, pull the flash hider/castle nut w/the correct pliers....................and leave him with a POO LOAD OF PARTS all piled and mixed up together and LET HIM FIGURE THE DAMN THING OUT LIKE I HAD TO ON MY OWN! hahahahahaha. that is the ONLY WAY to learn yer spoon backwards and forwards inside/and out. learn it live it KNOW IT becuz........................THIS IS MY RIFLE! THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT! BUT THIS IS MY RIFLE!........................................

Do not try it at home! Full auto triggers come from smothing out the sears. except you can't turn them off is what I've been told. Your range officer might not be happy with that.

nor BATF!
as i said....................send it to someones who really does these for a living. buy the M-25 trigger group and you are DQ'd from DCM matches. if spoon came with the trigger group it IS OK for DCM matches. ie the SUPER MATCH/M-25 all came with that trigger group. butt if ya gots a "grunt" issue/a "loaded" model, then you cannot use it for DCM matches. butt if yer just looking for a better trigger send it off to someone who knows what the hell they are doing. M-14 forums will point YOU in the RIGHT DIRECTION for those nearby!

Great, thanks for the info guys. I have some things I want to have done to my Garand as well so maybe I'll see if any of these places can do both at once.
Cheers, James
