I have just received an email from a truly fantastic customer who has been with us for several years. He dates back to when Dad was alive and running our show.
In this email, he documents the reluctant sale of his car to a remarkably interesting purchaser and he thanks us for looking after his sweet little 911 for all this time. Not much makes me cry so easily these days...but this wonderful guy did. He'll be searching for another car in the future and will again bring it to us. It will be a a joy and a privilege to have him as a customer again. Many people say thanks...it's always nice to hear ![]() I wish him all the success, health and prosperity life can deliver and cannot wait 'til he gives us the 'go' to help him find another car... Good story. I felt bad when I told my mechanic that I was going to work on my 911 full time. I felt bad about taking away business, though, he only did light stuff, things that were similar to VW's.

I should have said in the OP this isn't about the work...it's about a great guy make a life choice to part with a really nice early 911...and taking the time to say thank you to us for looking after him and his car.
I was fine until I got to the part in the email where he said thankyou...then I lost it. Over the years I've had to part with some real gems of cars myself...I know how much it hurts ![]() |

Good for you Lisa, priceless memory. Saying Thanks is a dying gesture
![]() ![]() ![]() When I was a kid, my mom make us write a thank-you letter after we received a gift. Nowadays, I sent $100 cash gift to nephew/niece and don't even get a 1 minute call on a free long-distance line... (I know I should keep the money and spending at PP) I work hard for my money so when I spend my, I'm on the expecting side (not to the extreme) so I can dish it out pretty good... On the other hand when I compliment them on their goods or service most of them are surprised and just don't know what too say.

![]() When I was a kid, we didn't even have to be told to write a thankyou note. It was just a given and I wasn't born in the dark ages. It was actually a pleasurable task! We think of our customers (especially the ones who have been with us for years) as friends and we treat their cars as if they were ours. They are all nice people really; we're very lucky. |
