				Fading plastic. Weird.

The only piece of plastic in my car showing any age is the turn signal/light stalk. Is there an easy way to make it black again? Weird that it's only this piece...

Don't have an answer as to how to get the color back, but I'd suspect the reason why it's the only piece that's faded is due to the acid/oils from hands and exposure to light. It's probably the most touched part on the car, outside of the wheel and shift knob which are made of different materials.

Rit-Dye Its a fabric dye sold at crafts stores or large drug stores and it will dye most plastics such as nylon etc. It might work but some plastics wont take the dye in. IIRC the plastics used in a lot of car interiors are ABS hybrids and some will take the dye in depending on the blend. | ||

Of course the easiest fix for that black stalk would be a black Sharpie. The company I work for is working with Bayer on developing a color infusion system for plastics... It is similar to the Rit Dye procedure but uses different chemicals and can use huge variety of dyes many of which are extremely fade resistant. We have a lab here at work and can color most types of plastics in a matter of seconds vs sometimes hours for the simple Rit Dye type process.

Be sure to rub your nose after signaling.

The black RIT dye or shoe polish both work, as I found out with the black interior parts on my '74 Targa
