windshield warranty?

I bought a new Nissan Murano for my mom in December. The windshield is cracked from the top edge right in front of the passenger to a spot in the center about halfway down the windshield. There is no evidence that it was struck by anything.
Has anyone ever had an issue with a windshield being replaced under warranty?

Nissan will cover it if it is a defect, caused by stress, or improperly installed. However, I'll bet they find a small chip at that corner.

Ditto, happened to me a few days after buying my new Camry, there was a small chip, no warranty.

Three weeks after buying my Ridgeline windshield cracked. Made a stink about it. Dealer replaced it. 3 years later, many stone chips later, 2nd windshield is hanging in. I believe the 1st one was a stress induced crack compounded by the heated wiper section. Not the "observed" .005" measured stone chip. Windshield should never crack from a .005" mark.

If Nissan won't cover it, try her insurance company. Ours (State Farm) covers glass breakage with no penalty.

Thanks for the replies. Her insurance doesn't cover glass 100%. The same deductible applies. I'll take it to the dealer and see what they say. I don't have time for this but I can't send her.
