I don't feel so bad now.

It's been damn cold here in SoCal lately. I put the zip codes for some friends and family around the country into the iphone weathere app and have noticed I'm the warmest one in the bunch.
Parker, South Dakota 2degrees
Laurie, Mo. 32degrees
Placeerville, Ca. 37degrees
Palmdale, Ca. 47degrees
Van Nuys, Ca. 50degrees

We've warmed up to 11 today.
It's actually pretty nice out.
Bright, sunny, no wind.

Cold is not your friend if you have a shop painting, glassing, whatnot. I love cooler weather, but I've worked in cold weather and I find that pretty tough going. Seeing construction guys on the job when there is a foot of snow on the ground and the plywood they are standing on is wet and frozen makes me shiver.

Can verify that it is indeed damn cold here is South Dakota. Parker is 30 miles from me. We were teased last week with 40-50 temps for a week. Talk about PORSCHE FEVER. That started it big time. Still a couple of months before it is time to get the baby out

Today's Forecast
34°

A *WINTER STORM WARNING* is in effect for most of the North Country until 11 PM Friday. A *WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY* is in effect for the St. Lawrence Valley.

Heavy snow will taper off late this afternoon across northern NY, and will taper off to snow showers early this evening across Vermont.

Total snow accumulations will range from 6-10" across the area, with locally higher amounts of 12-16" across Rutland and Windsor counties, and parts of the western slopes of the Green Mountains.

The storm will be gone tonight, and the weekend will start out quietly with some sunshine on Saturday, although it will be cold with highs only in the mid-to-upper teens.

A fast-moving clipper system will spread some light snow Saturday night and Sunday. We could get a few inches of accumulation out of that clipper.

And then another major storm will move in for Monday. This next storm will be warmer. It will start out with snow and sleet early Monday morning, but change to all rain as temperatures rise into the low 40s. And then, when cold air comes in on the back of the storm late on Monday, the rain will change back to snow showers for a while.

With the snow that we have gotten so far today, this is now the 2nd-snowiest February on record. We could end up in the #1 spot by the end of the month.

As of Noon:

8" Lake Placid

7" Saranac Lake

3" Moriah

Vermont:

5" Williston

4" Hyde Park

6" West Bridgewater

8" Woodstock

We're 10F above normal today and have been for a long time. "Normal" is just a number to chuckle at when watching the weather forecast. We're always way above "normal". I'd kill for some cooler weather.

Just had our 100th day over 80 degrees yesterday, with more to come over the next week....normal is about 1/2 that amount. We also had 30+ days over 90 degrees this season with most of those days having matching humidity numbers (not the dry heat of the desert).

Truly ready for some nice cool, Fall weather.

Holy thread revival. From 7 1/2 years ago?!

Maybe we'll get some rain in LA these next couple days. They predict 3/4" and maybe we'll see a drizzle.
