Thumbs up Next time you think you're having a bad day; think of Team Hoyt

I'm sure I lot of you guys and girls know this story...pure inspiration Tissues required...if you're a softy like me and even if you're not so soft...you will be I think...

A true story....
One day a son asks his father: "Daddy, will you run the marathon with me?" The father answers yes and both run their first marathon together. One day, the son asks his father if he wants to run the marathon with him again and the father answers yes. They both run the marathon together again. Then one day the son asks his father: "Daddy, will you run the Ironman with me?" (the Ironman is the toughest...it requires a 4km swim, 180km biking and 42km running). The father says yes again. This all sounds easy...but check this video.

Team Hoyt

I didn't want to wake anyone up, so I had to watch with the sound off. Amazing.

Here's the back story just in case some of it wasn't covered in the video.

My husband viewed this first thing morning and then showed me when I woke up. Beautiful in sooo many ways!! During breakfast we mentioned it to our daughter who is 10. She asked to see it and had many questions about the son's disabilities. She has been struggling in school and we have been trying to find ways to inspire her to work hard and try her best so all things can be possible for her future. Her dream is to attend Boston University, the look on her face was one of awe when we shared with her that the son, Rick graduated Boston University!

Yes, truly inspirational!!!!

Thank you for sharing!

Running a marathon or even a triathlon is a walk in the park compared to having to get up every morning facing the fact that all the hope and dreams you had for your child are never going to come true.
That's the tough part.
Do that everyday and a triathlon is easy

I have watched them compete in the Hawaiian Ironman for a few years, truly an incredible story. Doing it on your own is one thing, doing it that way multiple times is just short of miraculous, that is real heart.

I've had a rather wretched week at work. Took a few minutse break to cruise Pelican and came across this thread. I'd known about the Hoyts for some time, but did not know about the Ironman completion.

What a spectacular and inspiring way to end this week. There are no limits to the human spirit. Thank you for the post, Lisa.
